Requirements

Education

  • Master of Social Science (MSS), Master of Commerce (MCom) in Information Science & Library Management, Master of Commerce (MCom) in Development Studies
  • Masters in Management, Social Science, Development Studies or any other relevant discipline from any recognized university.

Experience

  • At least 3 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):

  • Age at most 45 years
  • Must have prior project management experience with national and International NGOs.
  • Minimum 03 years’ experience in relevant field. (at least 1 year of working experience in climate change/adaptation-related projects)
  • Experience in working with children and youth, livelihoods, Gender-based violence, WASH, and DRR.
  • Willing to drive a motorcycle with a valid driving license.
  • Adequate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, email, etc.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
  • Willing to travel and work in the most remote Area

Responsibilities & Context

Resource Development Foundation (RDF) is one of the largest nationwide development organizations (NGO) in Bangladesh. RDF is a distinguished development organization with a core mission to advance sustainable agriculture, enhance food security, and promote economic empowerment. The organization’s vision is tailored to address the complex challenges encountered by communities, especially in regions that are highly susceptible to the adverse effects of climate change. RDF has demonstrated committed dedication to improving the quality of life for marginalized populations, such as women and youth, through meticulously planned interventions and strategic partnerships. By leveraging local and national strategies, RDF ensures that its programs are effective, scalable, and sustainable, fostering resilience and self-sufficiency in the communities it serves. Resource Development Foundation (RDF) will implement a project named ‘Transforming Gender Inequality and Ensuring Empowerment for Climate-induced Displaced People in Urban Slum’ at Barishal from 01 January 2025 to 31 December 2027 funded by Climate Bridge Fund (CBF) with financial support from the Government of Germany through KfW, and BRAC. This project will be implemented in the slum areas of Barishal City Corporation. To implement the project, RDF invites applications from the competent and qualified persons for the following position.

The Technical Officer-Gender & Inclusion will be responsible for integrating gender considerations into child protection programs and ensuring that gender issues are adequately addressed. Their role involves a combination of advocacy, technical support, and program management to promote gender equality and protect the rights of children.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate gender and inclusion principles in all project activities, ensuring alignment with child rights and protection objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address gender-specific vulnerabilities and support gender equality within child protection frameworks.
  • Provide technical support to field teams in planning and executing gender-sensitive interventions.
  • Advocate for gender equality and inclusion within communities, engaging stakeholders to address gender biases that affect child rights.
  • Design and conduct awareness sessions on gender and child protection issues for various audiences, including community leaders, government representatives, and partner organizations.
  • Organize and lead training programs for project staff, partners, and community volunteers on gender-sensitive approaches in child protection.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and support to project teams to ensure effective implementation of gender and inclusion practices.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations, government agencies, and local stakeholders to align gender and inclusion goals with child protection initiatives.
  • Build partnerships with relevant networks and alliances to strengthen advocacy efforts for gender-sensitive child protection policies.
  • Develop and implement gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluation tools to assess the impact of interventions on gender equality and child protection.
  • Ensure regular reporting on gender-related outcomes and challenges, identifying areas for improvement and best practices for future projects.
  • Conduct research and assessments to identify gender-based challenges in child protection and to develop context-specific strategies.
  • Share lessons learned and successful approaches with the broader project team and stakeholders to enhance project impact.
  • Identify and mitigate gender-related risks that may impact the project’s objectives or put children at further risk.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, and encourage others to do so.
