About ASD:
Action for Social Development (ASD), established in 1988, is a non-government, non-profit and non-political development organization. ASD started its development activities with a Vision that people irrespective of their culture, ethnicity and religion enjoy full democratic and human rights and live in peace and dignity. The Mission of ASD is to facilitate the poor creating solidarity among themselves, building their capacity and bargaining power for realizing their rights and needs in order to improve their quality of life. ASD has a unique experience of working in both urban and rural areas and has experience of working as the head of consortium. ASD in a span of over 35 years, successfully implemented 75 development projects. In the previous journey ASD had a footprint in 17 districts of Bangladesh.
Livelihood, agriculture and food security is one of the major focus areas of ASD. ASD has given importance on empowerment and capacity building to the vulnerable community, agricultural technology and alternative IGAs, diversify food production, ensure better utilization of food.
From the beginning of its journey ASD has been working to eliminate existing barriers in order to increase access, enable decision-making and participation of marginalized populations. ASD has demonstrated committed dedication to improving the quality of life for marginalized populations, such as women and youth, through meticulously planned interventions and strategic partnerships. By leveraging both local and national strategies, ASD ensures that its programs are effective, scalable, and sustainable, thereby fostering resilience and self-sufficiency in the communities it serves.
Project Background:
ASD is going to implement a project named USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project (Agriculture and Food Security) at Sunamgonj District from November 2024 to November 2026 funded by USAID. This project will be implemented in 03 (Three) Upazila (Sunamgonj Sadar, Derai and Dowarabazar) under the Sunamgonj District in partnership with USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project-BRAC. To implement the project, ASD invites applications from the competent and qualified persons for the following positions:

Job Responsibilities:
Summary of work experience:
This project aims to identify and highlight the needs of marginalized groups, including landless farmers, indigenous communities, females, and ethnic minorities, who may encounter obstacles in their attempts to access agricultural resources and benefits. This project has robust plan to engage various stakeholders including youth, ethnic group, and community-based organizations, local to divisional level actors related to agro-business and markets in order to build a strong coalitions for collective actions to achieve projects objectives leading to sustainable development in terms of safe agro-items production and selling and marketing. The TO (Gender Inclusion and Network Building) will create and oversee the implementation of GESI strategies for the project. She will ensure that GESI is integrated into project activities, such as design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E). She will also work with project staff and project beneficiaries to increase their understanding of gender and youth issues, and to raise awareness of GESI issues.
- Assist for selection of smallholders /PG on the basis of their interest, need by types of agro-products, gender and ethnicity.
- Assist for forming of Primary Producer Groups (PG) and engage women based on need of the project activities.
- Conduct dedicated training for women to develop leadership, strengthen their capacities, manage disasters, ensure safe food and nutrition, advance environmentally friendly agro-technologies and production for food security,
- Assist Resource Farmers and Female Farmers to improve their participation, production, and management abilities. This will encourage and assist women in assuming leadership positions, giving them the ability to participate in local governance and decision-making.
- Encourage collaboration and female empowerment by including landless women in land-sharing initiatives.
- Improve women’s Farmer Agriculture production, economic independence, and dignity—especially for those impacted by disasters.
- Promote diversity and inclusion approach to make sure that the unique knowledge-based demands of women and other oppressed groups are met.
- Raising awareness through workshops on high-quality crops, fruits, and vegetables so that smallholder women may obtain high-quality inputs for aquaculture, livestock, and agriculture (crops, fruits, and vegetables, etc.).
- Monitor and assess the project’s integration of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) regularly, and make adjustments as needed to enhance results.
- Encourage the development of alternate sources of income that women and other underprivileged groups can participate in. Small-scale animal farming, homestead gardening, and agricultural items with added value could all fall under this category.
- Instruction for floating agriculture technologies to guarantee nutrition during times of need and lessen the effects of natural calamities (floods).
- Organize workshops on capacity building Training.
- Organizational develop training to build the Capacity at local CBO, C2, FPO, local Union, Upazila base NGO.
- Conduct network building Workshop with CBOs, other local organization, Local Services Providers to identify more community-led approaches.
- Identification of Local/Union/Upazila/District/Divisional level potential input-output actors/ organizations and meeting with them to collaborate
- Formation women business center (WBC) at union level with ethnic women & conduct quarterly meeting
- Conduct training on functions of product collection center (PCC), Women business center (WBC) and Farmer producer organizations (FPO) .
- Develop product collection centers (PCC) with advances farmers in each unions and women business center (WBC) with ethnic women following cooperative business method.
- Assist to Training for trainers (Resources Farmer /RF) and students on climate resilient agro-inputs production and use, safe food, food security and nutrition
