Understanding of sustainable livelihoods, risk assessment, and disaster response.
Behavioural Competencies:

Ability to work in remote locations and manage multiple tasks under pressure.

Uttaran is an NGO working in Bangladesh since 1985 to uphold rights and entitlements and to improve the socio-economic condition of the poor and disadvantaged community people. Uttaran is a people-centered organization using a rights-based approach to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities and empower poor communities of Bangladesh.

Uttaran invites applications for the vacant position titled- Technical officer marine protection for the Fisherfolk Integration for Sustainable Habitat and Natural Ecosystem Transformation Project

Reports to: Project Manager, Uttaran

Job Responsibilities

As the Technical officer marine protection, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation of project activities within the marine protection. Key responsibilities include:
Community Engagement and Planning for Legal aid services
Assist the Project Manager in planning, monitoring, and supervising the implementation of project activities specially in marine protection.
Assist to identify potential fisherfolks, select appropriate climate-resilient and resource-efficient cleaner production (RECP) practices for fisherfolks and motivate them to adopt those practices.
Provide technical support to fisherfolks at cluster level.
Select fisherfolks for demonstration, set-up demonstration, and follow-up the fisherfolks.
Prepare training manuals, leaflets, case stories of the sub-project.
Impart training on new/improved climate-resilient, resource-efficient and cleaner production aquaculture, GAqP/GLP/GMP, climate change vulnerability, etc.
Assist in organizing field days, exposure visits, meetings, workshops, seminars, fairs, Environment Club meetings, etc.
Explore circular economy, value-added product diversification, and new market potentiality.
Assist to produce monthly, quarterly, and annual progress report as per the requirement of the management.
Regular field visit at project areas, tracking the fisherfolks progress in adoption of the RECP practices and reporting.
Make the market linkages for the easy sales of the fisherfolks’ fishes.
Capacity Building:
Provide training and mentorship to project staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries to enhance their skills and knowledge related to new/improved climate-resilient, resource-efficient and cleaner production aquaculture, GAqP/GLP/GMP, climate change vulnerability
Support the development of sustainable income-generating opportunities for the fisherfolk
Networking and Partnerships:
Maintain linkages with different government departments (i.e. DoF, BFRI, DoE), academicians, value-chain actors (hatchery owners, inputs sellers, market actors, transporter etc.), private sector companies, etc.

Compensation & Other Benefits

● Employment Status: Contractual- Fixed Term Contract for 3-4 years

• Job Location: Khulna and Barishal division

Salary: 45,000 BDT to 50,000 BDT and 1 festival bonus equivalent of 1 month gross salary yearly

Compensation & other benefits: As per Uttaran’s Policy and Project Design.
