Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor/Equivalent Degree in any discipline.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in mental health, trauma healing, counselling, community development, networking, and mobilization.
  • Training on Basic Mental Health/Cognitive Psychology/Human Trafficking/Gender-based Violence, and GBV-related issues in Bangladesh.
  • Strong facilitation, training, and coordination skills.
  • Applicants for this position should have good computer knowledge, especially in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, and excellent spoken and written English language skills are essential, as well as the ability to produce quality reports. A valid motorcycle driving license is required.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Summary:

Technical Officer will coordinate awareness campaigns, conduct training sessions, deliver life skills education, and establish referral systems for victims of trafficking, gender-based violence (GBV), and mental health issues in collaboration with churches, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves supervising and building the capacity of local community and church leaders, adolescents, and parents, while enhancing advocacy skills at various levels.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Service Delivery
  • Organize and conduct workshops for church leaders, faith-based organizations, and community members on topics such as legal rights, protection mechanisms for victims of human trafficking and SGBV, and mental health awareness.
  • Set up Uncle/Aunties Counseling Benches in community areas, offering basic counseling on mental health, SGBV, trafficking, and substance abuse.
  • Facilitate trauma-healing referrals for individuals affected by violence and other abuses through established referral pathways to law enforcement, legal aid providers, and victim support services.
  • Launch awareness campaigns on human trafficking, SGBV, and mental health via local media, SBCC materials (posters, leaflets), and special observance days.
  • Capacity Building
  • Organize capacity-building activities, including training for community volunteers (Uncles/Aunties) and peer educators to conduct mental health education and awareness in their communities.
  • Form adolescent groups and conduct sessions focusing on mental health, self-esteem, coping mechanisms, and life skills.
  • Provide training to faith and community leaders on recognizing mental health issues, promoting social-emotional well-being, and integrating mental health strategies into their religious and community work.
  • Coordinate regular sensitization sessions with men’s groups to challenge gender norms, encourage healthy emotional expression, and promote mental health.
  • Ensure that monthly staff meeting for reporting and planning is organized regularly.
  • Provide supportive supervision for outreach/peripheral activities.
  • Ensure that implementation plan and budget are developed for targeted Church communities.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Impact Assessment:
  • Regularly monitor the effectiveness of referral systems and ensure that case management mechanisms are functioning as expected. Conduct field visits to observe and evaluate the quality of counseling services, workshops, and awareness programs.
  • Lead the development of monitoring frameworks and tools for community-based mental health initiatives. This includes tracking progress on established mental health services and human trafficking prevention activities.
  • Ensure timely documentation of project outcomes, including case studies, success stories, lessons learned, and challenges. These will be shared with relevant stakeholders for reflection and improvement.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations to assess the effectiveness of mental health programs, including feedback from community members, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that duty bearers are taking initiatives as part of sustainability.
  • Assists Project Manager and other officials in preparing reports for donors.
  • Networking and Dissemination
  • Facilitate partnerships with local government bodies, NGOs, and I/NGOs to ensure coordinated efforts and the smooth delivery of services for human trafficking prevention, SGBV, and mental health support.
  • Strengthen referral mechanisms by connecting with local law enforcement agencies, legal aid providers, healthcare services, and victim support organizations for the smooth handling of trafficking and SGBV cases.
  • Develop community networks to share project insights and promote mental health and human trafficking prevention within the broader context of community and faith-based organizations.
  • Present project results and impact at local, Upazila, and district-level forums, raising awareness and advocating for continued support for mental health initiatives.
  • Keep records and documentation as Project requires and take necessary action in the proper ways.
  • Assist in providing capacity development training to youth groups of local Churches as per Project design.
  • Responsible for coordinating all activities, and maintaining liaison with relevant government and non-government organizations and bodies.
  • GoB network in the Upazila and District level, and obtain necessary administrative and technical support.
  • Take initiatives to organize dissemination meetings for GO, I/NGOs for church and community transformation and link vulnerable people with local resource departments for access to GO/NGOs opportunities.
  • Advocacy meetings with GO/NGOs department and social service departments to ensure social safetynet support and IGA/livelihood opportunities.
  • Take responsibility within other areas of LAMB Project as required or assigned by PM//Director
  • Integration of Spiritual, Emotional, and Social Health
  • Work with church leaders and faith-based communities to integrate mental health and social well-being into their religious teachings, emphasizing the importance of emotional health and healing as part of spiritual growth.
  • Provide spiritual guidance alongside mental health counseling to help individuals process trauma and build resilience through faith-based practices.
  • Set up mobile counseling units and Uncle/Aunties Counseling Benches as tools for providing accessible, multi-dimensional support in remote areas. These services will offer active listening, basic counseling, and referrals, creating a safe space for individuals to address emotional, social, and mental health concerns.
  • Encourage life skills training that fosters the development of healthy coping strategies, self-esteem, and resilience—empowering individuals emotionally, socially, and spiritually to overcome adversity
  • Ensure prayer at the beginning of daily work, before meetings, workshops, training, and seminars.
  • Ensure the availability of religious books and references at the working place.
  • Be able to explain to anyone who asks LAMB motto and logo.
  • Be an example in implementing the project activities to the organizational mission, vision, and values.

Compensation & Other Benefits

Tk. 32,300/- per month gross. Other benefits include provident fund, festival allowance once per year, and critical illness and death benefit.
