Responsibilities & Context

• Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized. Being a peoples’ centered organization, ESDO envisioned for a society which will be free from inequality and injustice, a society where no child will cry from hunger and no life will be ruined by poverty. Near about three decades of relentless efforts to make this happen, ESDO has embraced new grounds and opened up new horizons to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable people to bring meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. During this long span, ESDO has adapted with the changing situation and provided the most time-bound services especially for the poor and disadvantaged. A community focused and people centered approach has been adapted by ESDO while consideration was given to the national policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding principle. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 331 upazilas under 54 districts of Bangladesh covering over 10 million poor and vulnerable people.

• As partnership with Plan International Bangladesh, ESDO is implementing the Integrated Sponsorship Project (ISP) in Jaldhaka Upazila of Nilphamari district. ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the position.

Job Responsibilities

• Have a diverse role that oversees the smooth operational running of the theatre for development show demonstrated in the community.

• Identifying the social issues creating development barriers related to project work and developing drama scripts, and folk songs.

• Formation/reformation of the TfD (theatre for development) group and develop their capacity to perform at the stage through conduction rehearsal.

• Organize TfD show at community, union and Upazila & district level as per plan and guide the TfD group to conduct good performance and TfD ensures that communities and children are active participants not passive recipients of information.

• Ensure that the theatre meets the requirements of legislation such as health and safety and safeguarding children arrangements.

• Prepare an action plan on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis and implement activity maintaining quality standards.

• Proper utilization of all theatre and music instruments and preservation in the safe custodian.

• Spend 80% of time on field visits and conduct training as per plan for the targeted program participants.

• Organize and conduct sponsored children forum and youth network, child marriage prevention committee meeting.

• Communication with other colleagues, local government representatives, relevant govt. officials & other NGOs.

• Collect and keep all records/data of project activities up to date.

• Prepare monthly reports at the end of the month and submit to appropriate authorities.

• Preparation of case studies/success reports and submission to appropriate authorities.

• Work in coordination with other like-minded partners and organizations in the project area.

• Coordinating and developing relationships with partner meetings at the union level.

• Coordinating with various stakeholders at the union and Upazila level such as UP Chairman, Members, Women Affairs Officer, UNO, Social Services and civil society representatives.

• Having an attitude to work under pressure.

• Must comply with the organization and donor’s safeguarding. Child protection and PSHEA policy for children and program participants. He/she must ensure a clear understanding of safeguarding policy to the project staff, key stakeholders and associates, plan risk assessment & mitigation before starting any children and program participant-engaged activities, and ensure reporting & responding of CP & safeguarding incident cases if happen.

• Consider gender equality in organizing every program or activity in the community

• And should have the mindset to perform any additional duties assigned by the organization

• Safeguarding knowledge and applying in all aspects of the programme as necessary and reporting mechanism, assessment and risk management and ensuring in the programme cycle.
