Education

Additional Requirements

  • The applicant should have experience as Chief Engineer for minimum 3 years.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Ensure that every requirements of the ship management agreement are met through establishing and maintaining liaison with clients.
  • Ensure that actual costs are within operational budgets, including crewing and victualing costs by developing and refining systems for vessels budgets, cost control and vessel operation.
  • Ensure that ship certificates are in updated condition by monitoring the ship’s certificates status at regular intervals.
  • Ensure that local, national and international rules and regulations are maintained and implemented appropriately in terms of maintenance standards and performance criteria of the vessels.
  • Assure that specifications of the goods (stores, spares) and services (repairs, overhauls, dry docking, agency, sub-contracts) are maintained as per approval and arranged procurement for the same as & when required.
  • Ensure timely processing of outstanding claims when any constraint is happened related to marine insurance through maintaining spontaneous communication with commercial team.
  • Ensure that the shipboard management systems are complied with appropriate standards by maintaining standards of safety on board, emergency procedures, contingency plans, environmental protection procedures, ER procedures and PMS procedures.
  • Ensure that adequate resources and shore-based support are applied through monitoring the safety and pollution prevention aspects in consultation with HSEQ / DPA.
  • Ensure that ISSC (International Ship Security Certificate), SMC (Safety Management Certificate), COFR (Certificate of Financial Responsibility), CSR (Continuous Synopsis Record) and all statutory, trading and class certificates are obtained for the vessels and monitor the validation of original certificates on a regular interval.
  • Ensure that proper risk assessment and change management plans are implemented by analyzing all incidents, accidents, operational and performance reports, in liaison with the HSEQ Department.
  • Ensure that the vessels are operated efficiently by managing day to day monitoring of vessel operations, movement, activities and reviewing daily vessel reporting like noon reports, work done, morning reports, providing feedback for any concern.
  • Confirm the worth of ship inventories by closely monitoring such as spares, stores, machinery, mooring equipment, safety equipment, lifesaving, firefighting equipment and portable instruments.
  • Ensure that the Class and Flag State requirements are met as per regulations through supervising the required surveys.
  • Evaluate repair quotations by selecting repair Companies and location of the repairs, based on the “best quality of works” / “cost” relation and taking into account the vessels’ itinerary and Charter Party obligations.
