Responsibilities & Context

Managing operations

• Overseeing the daily operations of a transportation department, including scheduling and routing

Ensuring compliance

• Ensuring that all vehicles, equipment, and staff meet relevant regulations

Managing budgets

• Managing transportation and maintenance budgets, and making recommendations for cost-saving measures

Monitoring performance

• Monitoring driver hours and performance, and ensuring they follow safe driving practices

• Supervising loading and offloading
• Ensuring that cargo is loaded and offloaded correctly and safely
• Documenting activities

• Documenting all transportation activities in a database, including trip logs and reports

Resolving issues

• Resolving any issues or problems that arise during the transportation process, including accidents or delays
• Transportation supervisors typically work in organizations that rely heavily on vehicle use, such as delivery companies.
