Responsibilities & Context
Uttaran (Cyclone Anticipatory Action Project)
Uttaran is an NGO working in Bangladesh since 1985 to uphold rights and entitlements and to improve the socio-economic condition of the poor and disadvantaged community people. Uttaran is a people-centered organization using a rights-based approach to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities and empower poor communities of Bangladesh.
Supported by the WFP, Uttaran is implementing “Cyclone Anticipatory Action” project for selected southwestern coastal districts in Khulna Division. Uttaran invites applications for the vacant position titled- Upazila Coordinator for this project.
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Employment Status: Contractual- (Fixed Term Contract)
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
A Upazila Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks (Including but not limited to):
- Support to project planning and implementation in collaboration with donors and organization management
- Facilitate orientation and consultation of Anticipatory Actions activities at different DMCs,
- Data collection, validation and finalization of the potential beneficiaries,
- Establish community-based early warning dissemination mechanism,
- Strengthening CPP preparedness actions through equipment and enhanced coordination mechanism
- Activation of shelter management system to ensure effective use of shelters in line with the early warning levels.
- Community level preparedness, planning and coordination
- Collaboration with relevant stakeholders and beneficiaries at Union, Upazila and district level
- Participate in workshops and training to broaden knowledge and share it with colleagues and stakeholders
- Coordinate with project staffs and Govt. representative, journalist, LGIs representative, local administration and others
- Maintain close coordination with key stakeholders and beneficiaries and provide necessary information as their requirement
- Supervise of Union Filed Facilitators and volunteers, enumerator and support project team for capacity strengthening activities throughout the project period.
- Organize different orientation, training with volunteers, enumerator and stakeholders
- Perform other additional activities as per organizational requirement.
