  • Demonstrate very strong leadership and management skills and ability to work in the team.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Good working relationships with colleagues, partners, external actors and allies.
  • Excellent communication skills including a high level of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities & Context

Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) <www.ypsa.org> is an organization for sustainable development working in the greater Chattogram division since 1985. YPSA is going to implementing a project on “The Ain Shohayota Activity” in Chattogram Division (Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Feni and Rangamati) in partnership with Democracy International. YPSA is inviting application from experienced professionals with proven track records for the following position for the Project.

Job Location (Working Area): Cox’s Bazar (Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Moheshkhali, Ramu, Pekua, Eidgaon), Chattogram (Sandwip, Patiya, Satkania, Rangunia, Fatikchari, Sitakundu), Feni (Chhagalnaiya, Daganbhuiyan, Feni Sadar, Fulgazi) and Rangamati (Kawkhali, Kaptai, Rangamati Sadar, Rajasthali).

Duration: 1st September 2024 to 30 April 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the effective implementation of project at the upazilla level. Ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and budget.
  • Organize awareness campaigns (courtyard, miking, public hearing, legal literacy campaigns) community meetings, orientation of legal aid services act 2000 and legal literacy programs as to educate the local population about their legal rights and available services of legal aid institutions.
  • Identify legal aid cases in the community, assess their eligibility, and facilitate access to appropriate legal services or representation.
  • Functional the local legal aid committees as UPLAC, UZLAC and DLAC.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local government, legal service providers (UPLAC, UZLAC), community leaders, Headman, Karbari, and civil society organizations to enhance service delivery and support.
  • Regularly monitor project activities, collect data, and prepare detailed reports on the progress and challenges faced in.
  • Conduct or coordinate training sessions for community paralegals, volunteers, and other stakeholders on legal aid, human rights, and access to justice.
  • Liaise with legal aid service providers to ensure timely support and follow-up for cases requiring legal intervention.
  • Collaborate with local government, law enforcement, judiciary, UZLAC, UPLAC, Legal NGO and community organizations to strengthen legal aid systems. Establish strong networks for advocacy and project support.
  • Manage the subdistrict-level budget, optimize the use of available resources, and identify opportunities for additional funding and resources.
  • Ensure that the project activities comply with the policies and regulations of the donor and the organization.
  • Maintain child and gender-sensitive approach in all stages and maintain safeguarding measure.
  • Any other task assigned by the YPSA Management.
