- Skilled at developing and facilitating processes and procedures with high standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills to maintain internal and external harmonious working relationships, including with the operations team, project colleagues, external partner staff, and government authorities.

Responsibilities & Context
Brief description of the project
The purpose of the Urban Health Activity is to strengthen urban health systems, with the goal of improving equitable health outcomes among all urbanites. To achieve its goal, the activity will work with municipalities and city corporations and focus investments on establishing and strengthening urban health systems to provide quality, equitable public health (including health services), optimize available resources, and become more resilient. This Activity will focus on the following four objectives: 1) Improve the capacity of local health authorities to conduct evidence-based analysis of local health systems and epidemiology for decision-making; 2) Institutionalize evidence-based planning; 3) Strengthen urban health systems; and 4) Strengthen urban health system resilience and responsiveness to shocks and stressors.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
- Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration (50%):Work closely with the leadership (Mayor, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Health Officer/ Health Officer) of respective city corporations and municipalities, the Civil Surgeon, the Deputy Director of Family Planning, and other relevant stakeholders, including private.
- Assess the existing institutional arrangement and strengthen/develop for coordination of urban health activity at the city level.
- Represent UHA in all relevant coordination meetings organized by respective health and family planning departments, city corporations, municipalities, and NGO coordination meetings at the city level.
- Orient and present project updates, progress, successes, challenges, and other relevant issues on time to the leadership of respective city corporations, municipalities, the Civil Surgeon, the Deputy Director of Family Planning, the Deputy Commissioner, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Assist CAM in developing the Annual Work Plan and Budget by incorporating data and information from the assessment and existing government systems.
- Coordinate and negotiate with respective departments, forums, and bodies at the city and district levels to ensure the smooth implementation of project interventions.
- Identify and collaborate with potential public-private institutions, departments, and NGOs with similar goals and objectives related to UHA.
- To explore potential resources (physical, financial, technical) to augment urban health activities at the city level.
- Provide necessary project updates to the national UHA team proactively and regularly. Facilitate project visits by senior UHA officials, government officials, USAID, and JSI HQ through vibrant communication and coordination with the leadership of respective city corporations, municipalities, Civil Surgeons, the Deputy Director of Family Planning, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Capacity development and Project Management (45%) Assess the existing technical and capacity gaps and develop an appropriate plan to address at the CAM level. Guide and support the health system and resilience, service delivery, quality, and social actions to address equity gaps and innovation to overcome urban health challenges.
- Responding to the local CAM /LHA’s need for data /information support and other TA needs such as joint planning and monitoring, organizing and facilitating orientation programs, and regular review of the program at the city level.
- Facilitate capacity development activities for the city team, using guidance from the national technical UHA team, to enhance their performance in line with UHA expectations and guidelines.
- Provide leadership and technical support to the city team in developing a monthly and annual project implementation plan that aligns with the UHA yearly implementation plan.
- Provide leadership and management support to the city and technical teams to work with respective departments, individuals, and forums of CAM, LHAs, and other stakeholders at the district and city levels.
- Provide coaching and mentoring support to City Team members to ensure high-quality implementation of project activities.
- Facilitate monthly performance meetings with the city team and ensure timely submission of monthly programmatic and financial reports to the UHA national team.
- Ensure that human and material resources are effectively and efficiently obtained and available for the sound execution of the UHA program and operations at the city level.
- Monitor and track the city urban health activities’ program progress (including financial progress).
- Manage monthly work plan and activity report, timesheet, leave, travel request, financial advance, etc.
- Track the burn rate of the assigned district and facilitate revision of the city budget if required.
- Ensure timely submission of FD -6 and other legal documents and government approvals to the DC and other relevant offices & collect yearly NOC from the DC and UNO Offices. Ensure that all compliance issues, safety and security protocols, policies, procedures, regulations, and other measures are implemented following USAID and JSI guidelines.
