Responsibilities & Context

Technician:

• Operate and monitor textile machinery (spinning, weaving, dyeing, finishing, etc.)
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensure machine efficiency and minimal downtime.
• Check fabric or yarn quality during production.
• Identify and correct defects (like broken threads, uneven dyeing, etc.).
• Assist in maintaining quality standards.
• Support production staff with technical input. Calibrate machines based on product specifications.
• Maintain logs of maintenance, repairs, and machine settings.
• Report unusual issues or breakdowns to supervisors.
• Follow safety protocols while handling machines and chemicals. Use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Forman:

• Supervise a team of workers/technicians on the shop floor.
• Allocate duties and ensure targets are met.
• Provide on-the-job training and guidance.
• Coordinate with production managers to meet daily/weekly targets.
• Ensure materials and manpower are available as required.
• Inspect product quality at various stages.
• Ensure processes follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure technicians perform timely maintenance.
• Report major issues to the engineering/maintenance department.
• Maintain production reports, attendance, and shift records.
• Communicate effectively with higher management.
• Enforce safety practices among workers.
• Ensure compliance with labor and environmental standards.
