    Responsibilities & Context

    • Plan and schedule dyeing operations based on production requirements, fabric types, and delivery deadlines.

    • Coordinate with the production and planning departments to ensure proper scheduling of dyeing batches.

    • Ensure that each dyeing batch is prepared as per customer requirements, including color, shade, and finish.

    • Oversee the dyeing process, ensuring that procedures are followed according to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

    • Monitor machine settings, dye formulations, and time/temperature controls to ensure consistency in dyeing.

    • Ensure proper color matching and adherence to shade standards by using laboratory tests and visual checks.

    • Supervise the dosing and mixing of dyes, chemicals, and auxiliaries to prevent errors.

    • Ensure that dyed fabrics meet the required quality standards, including shade consistency, color fastness, and finish.

    • Perform quality checks at various stages of the dyeing process to identify any issues early on.

    • Resolve issues related to dyeing defects such as streaks, uneven dyeing, color variations, or patchiness.

    • Work closely with the quality control team to ensure that any defects are addressed and corrective actions are implemented.

    • Optimize the utilization of dyeing machines, labor, dyes, and chemicals to ensure efficient use of resources.

    • Manage the inventory of dyes, chemicals, and auxiliaries to avoid shortages or overstocking.

    • Coordinate with the procurement team for timely ordering of raw materials.

    • Work with the dye master or color lab to determine dye recipes and formulas for each batch.

    • Ensure that recipes are accurately followed and documented for consistent color reproduction.

    • Manage the storage of dye recipes and records for future reference.

    • Identify and troubleshoot issues that arise during the dyeing process, such as uneven dyeing, poor fastness, or equipment malfunctions.

    • Ensure quick resolution of any production delays or problems that may affect quality or delivery timelines.

    • Coordinate with the maintenance team for timely repairs and maintenance of dyeing machines.

    • Monitor and control the costs associated with dyeing batches, including the use of dyes, chemicals, water, and energy.

    • Optimize processes to reduce wastage and ensure cost-efficient dyeing operations.

    • Analyze dyeing costs per batch and implement strategies to minimize production costs without compromising quality.

    • Implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the dyeing process and reduce downtime.

    • Utilize lean manufacturing principles and other process optimization techniques to minimize waste and improve throughput.

    • Stay updated on new dyeing technologies, chemicals, and methods that can improve productivity and quality.

    • Ensure adherence to safety protocols during the dyeing process, including the proper handling of chemicals and use of protective gear.

    • Monitor environmental standards related to water usage, effluent treatment, and chemical waste disposal.

    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and certifications such as ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge), OEKO-TEX, or ISO 14001.

    • Supervise and manage dyeing operators, technicians, and support staff.

    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and workload.

    • Provide training to the team on the latest dyeing techniques, machinery, and safety protocols.

    • Conduct performance evaluations and manage team development programs.

    • Coordinate with the lab for color matching and approval before starting production.

    • Ensure proper lab dip preparation and customer approval.

    • Oversee physical and chemical testing of dyed fabric for properties like colorfastness, shrinkage, and pH levels.

    • Collaborate with the merchandising, planning, production, and quality control teams to ensure seamless communication regarding batch schedules and specifications.

    • Keep the production team informed about any delays, issues, or changes in the dyeing schedule.

    • Maintain accurate records of dyeing batches, including batch numbers, dye recipes, processing times, and test results.

    • Prepare reports on dyeing performance, machine utilization, rework rates, and quality outcomes.

    • Keep logs of all quality-related issues and corrective measures taken.

    • Ensure that dyeing production meets daily and weekly targets in terms of volume and quality.

    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as batch output, defect rates, and on-time delivery.

    • Take proactive measures to address any bottlenecks in the dyeing process to avoid delays.

    • In cases of custom dyeing, communicate with customers to clarify requirements and resolve any concerns about colors, fabrics, or delivery schedules.

    • Provide color samples or lab dips for approval and maintain open communication about any potential changes in production timelines.

    • Identify potential risks in the dyeing process, such as machine breakdowns, chemical shortages, or unexpected quality issues.

    • Implement contingency plans to address these risks and ensure continuous production.

    • This role demands technical expertise in dyeing processes, leadership skills, and an ability to work under pressure to meet production and quality goals.
