Education

  • Masters
  • Master’s degree in Media Studies, Anthropology, Development Studies, Social Sciences or related field.

Experience

    • At least 5 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO

Additional Requirements

  • Age At most 55 years
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in research, documentation and academic publishing
  • Proven experience in research design, field data collection, statistical analysis, and academic or policy publications.
  • Strong understanding of media, freedom of expression, and Media and Information Literacy (MIL) and governance-related projects.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and writing skills in English and Bangla.
  • Commitment to diversity, gender equality and ethical research standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and districts.
  • Support and coordinate with project team to organize events at national and local level

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context

WAVE Foundation is seeking suitable and qualified candidates for an upcoming project under its Social Development and Youth Empowerment Program supported by DW Akademie. The project aims to empower youth, CSO and regional media to exercise freedom of expression in promoting civic engagement and inclusive dialogue across Bangladesh. Established in 1990, WAVE Foundation (www.wavefoundationbd.org) is a Civil Society Organization committed to its vision of building “A Just and Prosperous Society.” Since its inception, the organization has been implementing a wide range of activities to promote socio-economic development for poor and marginalized communities. WAVE also advocates for universal human rights and good governance through issue-based campaigns. DW Akademie is Deutsche Welle’s center for international media development, journalism training and knowledge transfer. Its projects strengthen the human right to freedom of expression and unhindered access to information. DW Akademie empowers people worldwide to make independent decisions based on reliable facts and constructive dialogue and are active in 60 developing countries and emerging economies.

 

Position Summary:

The Research & Documentation Specialist will be a full-time staff dedicated to designing and conducting research, documenting project activities, and producing evidence-based knowledge products. S/he will design methodologies, lead data collection and analysis, and

The Research & Documentation Specialist will be a full-time staff dedicated to designing and conducting research and documenting project activities. S/he will design research methodologies, lead field data collection and analysis, and prepare high-quality research papers and knowledge products. The position will prepare research papers on youth perspectives and recommendations on freedom of expression in media and the digital space and provide strategic, evidence-based recommendations to influence policy and practice.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement research methodologies, tools, and frameworks aligned with project objectives.
  • Conduct field data collection, focus group discussions, and analysis in collaboration with partner CSOs.
  • Prepare research papers and publications reflecting youth perspectives and policy recommendations on freedom of expression in media and the digital space.
  • Provide strategic, evidence-based recommendations to improve project implementation and influence policy.
  • Document project activities, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Support knowledge-sharing, monitoring, and reporting efforts within the project team.
  • Ensure quality and credibility of research outputs and compliance with ethical standards.
  • Support and coordinate with project team to organize events at national and local level.

 


Compensation & Other Benefits

  • Salary BDT 80,000-84,980/month (other benefits as per project provisions and organizational policy)
