Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)
  • Must have a valid BMDC registration number.
  • Fresh graduates may apply, but prior teaching experience as a demonstrator/tutor is an advantage. MD (Physiology) or MPhil (Physiology) is highly preferred.

Experience

    • 1 to 2 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Medical College
  • Freshers are also encouraged to apply.

Additional Requirements

  • Age 22 to 35 years
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Good English/Bengali communication
  • Lab skills.

Responsibilities & Context

1. Teaching & Learning

  • Theory Classes: Deliver small-group tutorials, seminars, and problem-based learning (PBL) sessions as per BMDC curriculum. (Typically, Lecturers do not deliver main large-group lectures; that is reserved for Assistant Professors and above).
  • Practical Classes: Take the lead in conducting practical sessions, including:
    • Haematology (blood smear, Hb estimation, ESR, PCV, clotting time, bleeding time).
    • Clinical Physiology (recording of BP, ECG, body temperature, pulmonary function tests).
    • Animal/human experiments as per curriculum (e.g., effect of exercise on pulse rate).
  • Small Group Teaching: Guide students in case-based discussions, graph interpretation, and problem-solving in Physiology.
  • Exam Duties: Set question papers for internal assessments (tutorial exams, card final), invigilate exams, and evaluate answer scripts and practical notebooks.

2. Laboratory Management

  • Prepare reagents, stains, and solutions for practical classes.
  • Maintain lab equipment (centrifuges, spectrophotometers, hemocytometers, ECG machine) and report malfunctions to HOD.
  • Ensure safety protocols and proper disposal of biological waste.
  • Maintain stock registers for chemicals, glassware, and consumables.

3. Student Assessment & Mentorship

  • Provide academic counseling to struggling students.
  • Keep attendance records and submit to HOD.
  • Assist in organizing and evaluating both formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide remedial teaching for weak students.

4. Research & Continuing Education

  • Engage in small-scale research projects under supervision of senior faculty.
  • Assist in preparing papers for national journals.
  • Attend departmental journal clubs, seminars, and CME (Continuing Medical Education) programs.
  • Prepare posters/presentations for conferences (e.g., Bangladesh Physiological Society).

5. Administrative & Other Duties

  • Attend departmental meetings and academic committee meetings.
  • Participate in admission interviews, orientation programs, and annual cultural/sports events if required by college management.
  • Perform duties as an invigilator for university exams.
  • Assist in accreditation or BMDC inspection tasks.
