  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively, and to write clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in implementing programmes through partnerships with local development organizations, private sector, and relevant government departments.
  • Experience in driving internationally funded projects

Responsibilities & Context

Overall Job Description:

The Programme Manager – Green Dairy Business is a leadership role assigned for the successful implementation of the Green Dairy Partnership project towards creating a sustainable and productive dairy value chain model in Southwest Bangladesh. The overall responsibility of the project manager is to implement and handle technical and financial reporting in coordination with the consortium partners and the DGDP Secretariat. He/she will lead the planning and execution of the project interventions to achieve the planned outputs and outcomes. S/he will coordinate with Arla Foods Bangladesh, PRAN Dairy, Solidaridad, SEGES Innovation, Integrated Dairy Research Network, and Danish Agricultural and Food Council, which aims to showcase a visionary operating model for a productive and green dairy value chain in Southwest Bangladesh.

The position will drive sustainable and resource-efficient business cases to improve the environmental footprint in the dairy industry and provide guidance to improve the productivity and profitability of the farmers in the value chain.

The Programme Manager – Green Dairy Business will accelerate the outcomes of the Green Dairy Partnership Project in Bangladesh in close collaboration with the private and public sector partners and research institutes.

The position is based in Khulna with frequent field visits to the project operation areas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management and Operation:

  • Execute annual planning and implementation, including tracking and reporting of project results;
  • Organize and coordinate project meetings with the consortium partners for planning, resource allocation, reporting, budgeting, compliance, performance monitoring, risk management, feedback, and improvement.
  • Facilitate capacity development of the farmers in collaboration with the private sector partners;
  • Supervise team members to execute the planned interventions in an effective and efficient way ensuring timely execution of planned interventions;
  • Lead the process of project budgeting and ensure efficient use of financial resources allocated for the projects within the committed timeframe;
  • Work closely with ARLA and Pran Dairy to develop an inclusive green dairy supply chain development.
  • Coordinate the monitoring and evaluation functions of projects with the M&E team for tracking and reporting of the project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with consortium partners to promote awareness of sustainable dairy farming practices and the benefits of green dairy projects through community outreach, workshops, and public campaigns.
  • Advocate for policies and regulations that support sustainable dairy farming and environmental sustainability.
  • Support efforts to sensitize the community, local people, line departments, and relevant stakeholders in developing a dairy forum.
  • Carry out process documentation, and collect and compile required information from farmers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders.
  • Perform cross-functional activities relevant to project management and operation.
