Job Description: We seek a talented, experienced sub-editor (English) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a passion for news, and the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging content. As a Sub Editor, you will be responsible for editing and proofreading articles, ensuring accuracy and consistency, and maintaining the highest standards of journalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit and proofread news articles, features, and other content for clarity, accuracy, and coherence.
- Ensure all content adheres to our editorial guidelines and style.
- Work closely with reporters and writers to refine their submissions.
- Verify facts, dates, and statistics to ensure accuracy.
- Write headlines, subheadings, and captions that are engaging and informative.
- Manage the content flow and ensure timely publication.
- Stay updated with current events and news trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Sub Editor, Copy Editor, or similar role in a news organization.
- Exceptional command of the English language, with excellent grammar and writing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot errors quickly.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and online content management systems.
- Strong understanding of news and current affairs.
