Responsibilities & Context

Since 2017, Bangladesh has been hosting about 1 million Rohingya refugees mainly in Cox’s Bazar. Thousands of vital electrical and electronic items like solar street-lights, mini-grids, lightning arrestor and solar home systems power their lives. However, a lack of technical expertise within the camps often leads to repairable malfunctions and e-waste. The Green Innovation Hub (GIH) program is designed to tackles this challenge head-on by empowering refugees with the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain and maximize the efficiency of these resources. This fosters self-reliance, promotes sustainability, and ultimately paves the way for a more dignified and lasting existence for the Rohingya community.

The Assistant Training and innovation officer will assist in conducting skill development training in the Green Innovation Hub (GIH) which is a specialized training institute and education facility created mainly for the Rohingya refugee community. Its main goal is to empower refugees by giving them the chance to learn, advance their technical knowledge, and pick up new skills. The Assistant Training & Innovation Officer will also design and manage training programs to enhance Rohingya community knowledge in energy efficiency and conservation.

Assist in developing and implementing training programs on energy efficiency and environmental conservation.

Support in coordinating logistics for training sessions and collaborate with partner organizations to design educational materials.

Facilitate community meetings and awareness sessions to promote active participation in training programs.

Empower refugees to take ownership of solar and electrical repair processes, and to provide training and educational activities on solar/electrical topics to their camp residents.

Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of training programs.

Ensure effective communication and coordination to align training objectives with project goals.

Document training sessions, success stories, and innovative practices through photos and video.

Carry out data collection from respondents using surveys, focus group discussions (FGDs), observation, and key informant interviews (KII) through field visits.

Support the implementation of repair maintenance desks and entrepreneurial programs within the community.

Co-facilitate innovation competitions to encourage creative solutions to energy and environmental challenges.

Engage with key stakeholders, including UNHCR and local authorities, to foster support for the project.

Ensure strict adherence to project timelines for training sessions and key milestones.

Ensure effective coordination and collaboration with international and local project partners.

Provide regular updates to project leadership on progress and challenges faced.

Perform other relevant duties as required for the project as well as the organization
