Requirements

Education

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).

For Registrar:  MBBS and MS/FCPS/MRCS-Part 1 or Phase A with Minimum 7 years’ experience / training in Surgery Department/related Specialty or

For Senior Medical Officer: MBBS (MS/FCPS/MRCS-Part 1 or Phase A will get preference) with Minimum 3 years’ experience / training in Surgery Department/related Specialty.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

As a Registrar / Senior Medical Officer-Neuro Surgery dept., the position is responsible for providing the patients with adequate treat and continually monitoring progress for quality of care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients upon admission and conduct detailed history-taking and physical examinations within the first 24 hours.
  • Authorize and ensure appropriate and urgent investigations as directed by the primary consultant.
  • Perform daily rounds of surgical patients in the wards, assessing and reviewing them regularly in consultation with the supervising consultant.
  • Complete in-patient rounds every day, maintaining accurate and detailed medical records, including case sheets and progress notes.
  • Administer treatment plans as advised, ensuring correct dosage, frequency, and route of medication administration while taking all necessary precautions.
  • Monitor patient progress continuously, adjust management plans as needed, and take appropriate action in medical and surgical emergencies.
  • Assist in surgery with the consultant in surgical procedures in OT and document in medical record.
  • Shall be doing minor procedures such as NG tube insertion and dressing under guidance of registrar.
  • During On call duties shall do minor procedures under local anesthesia such as Nail avulsion, abscess drainage, minor stitching under the guidance of consultant.
  • Assist surgical consultants in the day-to-day management of patients.
  • To do on-Call duties to attend to surgical patients received through emergency and assist in their management as advised by the consultant surgeon.
  • Prepare comprehensive discharge summaries on time and brief patients on their post-discharge medication regimen.
  • Follow hospital protocols and take initiatives to maintain the highest safety standards for patients and staff.
  • Participate actively in clinical meetings, workshops, and paper presentations.
  • Engage in ongoing training programs and take initiatives for continuous professional development.
  • Participate in departmental learning sessions and quality initiatives.
