Responsibilities & Context

Background:

Under the umbrella of Bangladesh Employers Federation (BEF), Bangladesh Business and Disability Network (BBDN) is a network of employers and employers’ associations, which was formed in collaboration with disability organizations, NGOs and development partners, with the purpose of creating a more disability inclusive workforce in Bangladesh. The network, supported by the International Labor Organization (ILO), was officially launched by the Honorable Prime Minister and the Director General of ILO on 11 December 2016 at the inauguration of the Dhaka Skills Summit. The Network’s mission is to raise business awareness about the positive relationship between the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the workplace and business success. BBDN serve companies of all sizes and markets by encouraging knowledge-sharing and joint activities, thus building disability expertise, facilitating the development of national networks and promoting the business and human rights cases for disability inclusion in the workplace.

BBDN is seeking a versatile and organized Communications and Membership Officer to manage external communications, social media, membership activities, and provide crucial support to various departments. The candidate will also be responsible for developing the organization’s brand profile, preparing portfolios, and creating impactful content that represents BBDN’s mission and initiatives. This role will also involve supporting the finance department, preparing reports, and drafting press releases and speeches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • External Communications: Develop and manage external communications, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment with BBDN’s objectives.
  • Social Media Management: Oversee BBDN’s social media presence, creating engaging content to grow the organization’s online visibility and influence.
  • Membership / Partnership Activities & Services: Lead membership outreach, engagement, and retention efforts, providing services and support to current and prospective members.
  • Brand Presentation & Portfolio Creation: Develop and enhance BBDN’s brand profile by creating compelling portfolios, organizational profiles, and presentations for stakeholders, partners, and events.
  • Support for Finance Department: Assist in administrative support for finance-related tasks, especially regarding membership fees and financial documentation.
  • Reports & Newsletters: Prepare the annual “Year in Review” report and regular newsletters, distributing them to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Press Releases & Speeches: Draft press releases, speeches, and other content based on organizational activities and news, ensuring clear and impactful messaging.

Job location: Based in Dhaka, but may require travel to other parts of the country occasionally.

Compensation & Other Benefits

Work station: Motijheel, Dhaka.

Salary/Benefits: Monthly consolidated salary of BDT 25,000-30,000 all inclusive.

Other Benefits: Entitled to get 2 (Two) festival bonus, Provident fund & Gratuity fund.

Leave/ Holidays: weekly 5 days work including all government holidays. Any other holiday as per Bangladesh Business and Disability Network policy. Also, able to enjoy 14 days yearly leave based on personal needs.
