Responsibilities & Context

Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University, was established in 2011. C3ER’s Vision is to craft sustainable & adaptive solutions for society, and its targets are to be established as a cutting-edge research and academic institute in Bangladesh working in the field of climate physical science and natural resources management. C3ER has extensive expertise in climate change adaptation, mitigation, loss and damage, natural resource management, knowledge sharing, capacity building, Remote Sensing, GIS and databases, policy advocacy, and governance, etc. Since its establishment, C3ER’s primary goal as an academic research institute is to generate new knowledge, share it with other stakeholders, and influence policymakers.

The Communication Specialist for the “Climate Action for Transformation in Bangladesh (CLIMACT)” project, funded by USAID and led by Winrock International, is essential to meet the project’s objectives and as per the project provisions. Given that C3ER, Brac University, has been awarded this project, the Communication Specialist will be pivotal in ensuring effective coordination and communication between C3ER, lead consortium partner, donor agency and stakeholders. This role is vital for managing project communications, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination of key information, all of which are fundamental to the success of the CLIMACT project.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the scheduling, writing, preparation, and editing of quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc reports, success stories, and other materials, working closely with program and M&E staff to gather relevant content. Ensure high-quality, clear, and captivating technical reports, marketing materials, and digital content tailored to diverse audiences by utilizing the M&E and grants databases to compile information effectively.

  • Contribute to ClimAct’s Stakeholder Engagement and Plan and develop and implement the activity’s Communications Plan.

  • Ensure compliance with the activity’s USAID branding and marking plan and ADS 320 and ADS 558.

  • Utilize information in the monitoring and evaluation database and grants database to compile reports on the activity’s status and impact, including success stories, press releases, quarterly reports, semi-annual reports, annual reports, and ad hoc reports as needed.

  • Ensure the necessary multimedia consent and copyright compliance for any photo/video/audio content production, including for children and vulnerable communities.

  • Generate program reports and other documents as requested by the DCOP/COP, activity leads or USAID

  • Assist in the translation of activity communications, outreach, meeting, and training materials from English to Bengali as well as Bengali to English, and assist in the planning, preparation, coordination, and execution of ClimAct’s outreach events (such as press briefings, roundtable discussions, briefings for partner organizations, the U.S. Embassy, USAID Mission in Bangladesh, and Government of Bangladesh.

  • Assist ClimAct and its activity partners if/as needed to develop outreach dissemination materials such as posters, social media content, radio scripts and other media. Maintain connections with local partners, media and other stakeholders who can help share information about the activity with a broader audience.

  • Help the ClimAct activity and team members broadcast a clear understanding of the activity’s identity and mission through consistent use of standard messages integrated into all communications.

  • Participate in planning and attending ClimAct workshops, trainings, and other events.

  • Prepare, write, or assist in preparing press releases and other materials (English and Bengali) promoting the ClimAct activity, which may include talking points, photographs and captions.

  • Prepare one-page information sheets, updates and status reports regarding activity efforts as required.

  • Prepare content and post it on existing social media platforms (for example, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube), including blog posts, tweets, and other content.

  • Lead national and regional media outreach and coverage of key activity events.

  • Oversee preparation and writing of press releases and other press-related activities.

  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.
