About ASD:
Action for Social Development (ASD), established in 1988, is a non-government, non-profit and non-political development organization. ASD started its development activities with a Vision that people irrespective of their culture, ethnicity and religion enjoy full democratic and human rights and live in peace and dignity. The Mission of ASD is to facilitate the poor creating solidarity among themselves, building their capacity and bargaining power for realizing their rights and needs in order to improve their quality of life. ASD has a unique experience of working in both urban and rural areas and has experience of working as the head of consortium. ASD in a span of over 35 years, successfully implemented 75 development projects. In the previous journey ASD had a footprint in 17 districts of Bangladesh.
Livelihood, agriculture and food security is one of the major focus areas of ASD. ASD has given importance on empowerment and capacity building to the vulnerable community, agricultural technology and alternative IGAs, diversify food production, ensure better utilization of food.
From the beginning of its journey ASD has been working to eliminate existing barriers in order to increase access, enable decision-making and participation of marginalized populations. ASD has demonstrated committed dedication to improving the quality of life for marginalized populations, such as women and youth, through meticulously planned interventions and strategic partnerships. By leveraging both local and national strategies, ASD ensures that its programs are effective, scalable, and sustainable, thereby fostering resilience and self-sufficiency in the communities it serves.
Project Background:
ASD is going to implement a project named USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project (Agriculture and Food Security) at Sunamgonj District from November 2024 to November 2026 funded by USAID. This project will be implemented in 03 (Three) Upazila (Sunamgonj Sadar, Derai and Dowarabazar) under the Sunamgonj District in partnership with USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project-BRAC. To implement the project, ASD invites applications from the competent and qualified persons for the following positions:
Position: Technical Officer (Agriculture & Food Security)

Job Responsibilities:
- Proven experience in designing and implementing food security and nutrition improvement programs.
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the design, implementation, and evaluation of nutrition-sensitive agriculture and food security programs.
- Practical knowledge on global policy developments in agriculture and food security to identify effective, evidence-based interventions addressing the needs and challenges of vulnerable women and children in Bangladesh.
- Lead the development and delivery of nutrition education initiatives and nutrition-sensitive agriculture training programs, aligned with USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project –BRAC International donor funding requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance using data-driven insights, and continuously improve initiatives based on lessons learned, in accordance with USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project –BRAC evaluation frameworks.
- Document best practices, success stories, and recommendations to inform future program design and share knowledge with the external partners.
- Collaborate with local and international partners to align project activities with global and national food security policies and practices.
- Assist for selection of smallholders /PG on the basis of their interest, need by types of agro-products, gender and ethnicity
- Assist for selection of Resources Farmer/ RF at village.
- To conduct demand creation sessions for the respective smallholders /PG and resource farmers (RF).
- Develop session plan and manual on Climate Smart Agriculture & Organic farming
- Mapping of authentic and quality input and output service providers.
- Development of seed/plant/aquaculture/ livestock inputs production centre /point at union level.
- Conduct sessions (initial and follow up) for PG members on community-led innovative approaches in response to Flood Tolerant seed, organic fertilizer and pesticide
- Establish Climate Field Schools (CFS) as learning center for Climate Smart agricultural technical services on more production
- Develop module on Climate Smart Agriculture and Nutrition /Flip chat for Climate field School
- Conduct Climate smart agriculture technologies in crops base Session by CFS
- Training for trainers (Resources Farmer /RF) and students (Student number) on climate resilient agro-inputs production and use, safe food, food security and nutrition
- Foundation training for project Staff on project operation on Agriculture & Food Security
- Demonstration Agro-based climate resilient plots using adaptive technologies (plots at PG level)
- Conduct awareness sessions on safe food and nutrition at Primary and secondary School level
- Conduct sessions (initial and follow up) for PG members on safe food and nutrition
- Formation Union level product collection centers with advance farmers and conduct quarterly meeting
- Invite interested input and output actors to collaborate in response to sell their quality agro-inputs to smallholders/PG as well as purchase safe/organic food items
- Develop modules on pick and packer on fruits and vegetables are use of improved transportation system for immediate transport after harvesting for PG farmers.
