Responsibilities & Context
- Conducting assessments to evaluate students’ cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
- Administering standardized tests to assess intelligence, academic achievement, and psychological disorders.
- Analyzing assessment results to identify students’ strengths and areas of concern.
- Providing individual counseling to students experiencing academic, social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties.
- Facilitating group counseling sessions to address common issues such as bullying, stress management, or grief.
- Offering crisis intervention and support for students dealing with trauma or urgent mental health concerns.
- Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop strategies for supporting students’ academic and emotional needs.
- Consulting with teachers to address classroom behavior management and learning difficulties.
- Designing and implementing school-wide programs to promote positive mental health and prevent behavioral problems.
- Conducting workshops and training sessions for teachers and parents on topics such as positive discipline, conflict resolution, and understanding child development.
- Implementing interventions to address issues such as bullying, substance abuse, and peer conflicts.
- Analyzing school-wide data to identify trends and patterns related to student behavior and academic performance.
- Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices, research findings, and ethical guidelines in the field of school psychology.
- Pursuing additional certifications or specialized training to enhance skills in areas such as trauma-informed care, autism spectrum disorders, or crisis intervention.
