• Previous experience as a Counselor Educator is essential.
• Experience with NGO/ INGO in a similar role is desirable.
• Proficiency in Chittagonian dialect and Rohingya language is essential. Knowledge of English and ability to communicate the same is an asset.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context: Perform counseling and/or education sessions to patients, following different medical and mental health MSF protocols and procedures, to improve their psycho-social condition.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identify the psycho-social, socio-economic, and administrative needs for patients.
• Actively promote the availability of counselling services and carry out, individual or in group counselling, basic psycho educational sessions, to patients, their families (when needed), to alleviate their psycho-social difficulties within the project scope.
• Refer patients to other specialists or other institutions for further assistance, when necessary, to propose the best support available.
• Participate in the creation of any material needed for counselling activities and look after it.
• Keep files and statistics of daily activities and participate in team meetings to share experiences and discuss special cases with other counsellors, preserving confidentiality.
• Inform line manager of any problem of any kind arising during the day-to-day activities.
• Take active part in trainings, supervisions/interventions and support the activities manager, when necessary, in doing sensitization for MSF staff or external partners about mental health /psycho-social issues.
• Discuss difficulties and problems in counselling with supervisor.
• Patient Counselling and Education:
  • Provide counseling for individuals undergoing HCV screening.
  • Educate patients on HCV transmission, disease progression, and treatment options.
  • Address concerns about stigma, fears, or misconceptions about HCV.
  • Guide patients on lifestyle changes to complement treatment.
• Psycho-social Support:
  • Provide counselling sessions to address emotional and mental health needs related to HCV.
  • Build trust with patients from vulnerable populations, including those who are uninsured, experience substance use, or face housing insecurity.
  • Assist in identifying and overcoming barriers to treatment adherence.
• Staff and Community Training:
  • Train healthcare staff on effective communication strategies for HCV patients, focusing on empathy and non-stigmatizing approaches.
  • Develop and deliver community awareness programs to educate high-risk groups about HCV prevention and care.
• Program Support and Data Collection:
  • Document patient interactions, maintain counselling session logs, and compile data for program evaluation.
  • Monitor treatment adherence and report patient outcomes to program managers.
  • Suggest program improvements based on patient feedback and data trends.
