Responsibilities & Context
Job Summary:
The Head of R&D leads the research, innovation and product development efforts of the company. This role is responsible for identifying new market trends, developing innovative furniture designs, improving existing product lines and ensuring that products meet functionality, sustainability and manufacturability standards. The role collaborates with marketing, design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to bring competitive products to market efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the R&D strategy in alignment with the company’s business goals and market trends.
- Lead the conceptualization, prototyping, testing and refinement of new furniture products.
- Oversee materials research, ergonomics studies and sustainability initiatives.
- Manage the R&D team, including industrial designers, engineers and technicians.
- Collaborate with production and quality assurance to ensure feasibility and compliance of new products.
- Ensure that all designs comply with safety, durability, and regulatory standards.
- Drive continuous innovation through the adoption of new materials, technologies, and design methodologies.
- Analyze customer feedback and competitor offerings to identify improvement and innovation opportunities.
- Manage R&D budgets, timelines, and project resources.
- Build partnerships with external research bodies, suppliers and technology providers.
- Good knowledge of plastic and metal industries. (Eg: mold, progressive die, die casting, powder coating etc).
- Proficiency in CAD CAM software’s like SolidWorks, Auto CAD, NX, Catia and any others.
- Knowledge about ideation to production for new products.
- Troubleshooting the common production challenges.
Job Requirements:
- BSC/MSC in IPE or Mechanical Engineering from the listed University such BUET, RUEST, KUET, CUET, IUT.
- At least 10 years practical experience Process Planning and Research & Development from Manufacturing Industry.
