Requirements

Education

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting
Bachelor`s/Master`s from a reputed university. Major in Accounting, Finance, or any relevant field.

Experience

2 to 3 years
The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO, Development Agency

Additional Requirements

Age At most 40 years

Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience working in the Finance and Accounts Department.

Skills and Other Competencies

Excellent communication skills in both English and Bangla.

Sound numerical and analytical skills

Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Ability to handle challenges and adapt to changing situations.

Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Clear understanding of assurance, accountability, and compliance

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Experience in fieldwork or working with communities is preferred.

Travel Requirements:

The position requires frequent travel to project sites within the assigned districts.

Responsibilities & Context

BITA (Bangladesh Institute of Theatre Arts), a non-governmental organization, has been administering development initiatives focusing on human rights, cultural upliftment, and poverty alleviation since 1994.

The basis of development intervention in BITA is the rights-based approach. BITA has sequentially developed an empowerment process which starts its journey from building relationships with communities through communication, supporting them in raising of their awareness level, facilitating them in transforming their trust into internalization capacity to visualize self-development, making them confident to become actors from observers.

Background: BITA aims at economic engagement of the NEET youth, especially women, in rural and semi-urban areas of the Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar Districts in Bangladesh through a potential project. The Scope of work of this project is establishing and managing Village Level Training Centers (VLTCs) and implementing associated activities (community engagement, beneficiary/trade selection, training delivery, employment support, enabling environment) across the Chattogram & Cox’s Bazar District’s selected upazilas, leveraging the collective strengths and expertise of all relevant institutions.

Position: Accounts & Admin Officer

Work Location: Project implementation area as assigned by BITA, Union- level across Chattogram & Cox’s Bazar District’s selected upazilas.

Position Summary:

The Accounts & Admin Officer is responsible and accountable for managing and operation of accounting, finance, and administrative works and ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The role involves managing routine banking activities, preparing and reviewing financial documentation, and supporting day- to- day accounting operations.

Job Duration: 27 Months. (Note: Recruitment for this position and the final contract are contingent upon the SCI-led Joint Venture being awarded the project contract by the Client.)

Job Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management & Accounting
Maintain accurate financial records for all program- related transactions.
Record daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
Prepare and verify vouchers (payment, receipt, journal).
Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial records.
2. Budget Monitoring & Control
Monitor program budgets and track expenditures against approved budgets.
Assist in budget preparation and revisions.
Identify variances and report to management with recommendations.
3. Payment & Disbursement
Process payments (vendor bills, staff reimbursements, program expenses).
Ensure all payments are properly approved and supported by documents.
Maintain petty cash and ensure compliance with cash policies.
4. Banking & Reconciliation
Prepare bank reconciliation statements regularly.
Coordinate bank transactions (deposits, withdrawals, transfers).
Ensure proper tracking of all program funds.
5. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and donor guidelines.
Support VAT & Tax (TDS) documentation and coordination with relevant team members.
Maintain audit- ready documentation at all times.
6. Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly financial reports for the education program.
Support preparation of donor reports and grant financial statements.
Provide financial data for management decision- making.
7. Audit Support
Assist internal and external audits by providing required documents.
Ensure proper response to audit observations.
Support implementation of audit recommendations.
8. Coordination & Support
Coordinate with program teams (school/admin staff) for financial matters.
Provide guidance on financial procedures and documentation.
Support training of field staff on financial compliance when needed.
