Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Database Engineer with expertise in MS SQL Server to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business-critical applications and data-driven decision-making processes.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize databases, tables, and stored procedures to meet application requirements.

• Implement database solutions that ensure high availability, data integrity, and security.

• Analyze and improve database performance using indexing, query optimization, and partitioning.

• Troubleshoot performance issues and resolve bottlenecks in a timely manner.

• Manage database backups, restores, and disaster recovery processes.

• Perform regular health checks, ensure database integrity, and monitor performance metrics.

• Develop ETL processes to integrate data from multiple sources.

• Automate data pipelines and ensure efficient data flow between systems.

• Implement database security measures, including user roles, permissions, and encryption.

• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and company policies.

• Work closely with developers, data analysts, and IT teams to support application development and reporting needs.

• Provide technical expertise for database-related issues and incidents.

• Document database architecture, processes, and procedures.

• Establish and promote database development best practices and coding standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience working with MS SQL Server in a database engineering or administration role.

• Proven experience in database design, development, and performance optimization.

• Expertise in T-SQL for writing complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers.

• Strong understanding of indexing, partitioning, and query optimization techniques.

• Experience with backup/restore strategies and disaster recovery planning.

• Knowledge of ETL tools (e.g., SSIS) and data integration processes.

• Familiarity with monitoring tools like SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, or third-party solutions.

• Understanding of database security, including encryption and role-based access control.

• Experience with Azure SQL Database or other cloud-based database platforms.

• Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation.

• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools.
