Additional Requirements

Minimum 5 years of driving experience with Ambulance/Medium vehicle. Working for a humanitarian/non-profit-making organization is preferable.
Experience of working with the Red Cross / Red Crescent movement is preferable.

Knowledge and Skills:

Bangladeshi driving license with light vehicle.
Medium/Heavy vehicle licence will get preference.
Excellent driving skills including 4X4 handling skills.
Able to work independently and as part of the team.
Exceptional level of patience and able to work long hours.
Basic mechanical skills will add extra preference.
Sensitive to cultural, religious, political and regional issues.
Good mental and physical health.
Ability to maintain accurate log records.
Good time keeping.
Languages: Fluency in Bangla and Basic communication in English is highly preferable.

Responsibilities & Context

Duration of the contract : Up to 31 March 2025 (with possibility of extension upon satisfactory performance and availability of funds)

Reporting to: Senior officer, Logistics & Fleet.

The assigned person will be based in BDRCS Field Hospital, Ukhiya, Cox’s bazar to support the Hospital Team of field hospital.

Job Purpose:

The Ambulance Driver under immediate supervision of the Senior officer, Logistics & Fleet is responsible for driving the IFRC Ambulance and transport Patient and related tasks relating to IFRC/BDRCS programmes and operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Implementation of IFRC standard practices for ambulance operation.
Implementation of preventative and curative maintenance of ambulance to maximise the fleet capacity.
Cleaning and sanitizing ambulance daily.
Keep proper tracking of ambulance servicing & Preventative maintenance.
Driving the seriously ill and injured patients to the hospital.
Providing first aid care and administering oxygen if needed.
Working in collaboration with the Paramedic, Nurses and Emergency Medical team.
Checking the medical inventory in the Vehicle and restocking them as and when required.
Changing the stretcher’s linen after every use.
Cleaning and sanitizing the ambulance.
Disposing of the contaminated medical waste.
Maintaining daily entries in the Vehicle logbook.
Ensuring the safety of the Ambulance and reporting the faults at the earliest.
Regular follow up and timely inform to the supervisor about the routine maintenance of the Ambulance.
Carry out any other duties that may arise from time to time and assigned by the supervisor.
