Responsibilities & Context

For this role of R&D (fabric development), he will be responsible for leading and managing the development of new fabrics, ensuring innovative and high-quality fabric solutions. This role will also oversee the knitting and dyeing processes, ensuring the seamless transition from fabric design to production. He will play a crucial role in identifying and addressing limitations in fabrics at the early stages, offering technical solutions to ensure optimal production quality and process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fabric Development:
  • Lead the development of new fabric designs and materials, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and quality.
  • Research and test new fabric technologies and materials that meet market demand and customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with design, production, and sourcing teams to align fabric development with overall product requirements and timelines.
• Knitting & Dyeing Oversight:
  • Supervise and coordinate the knitting and dyeing sections to ensure the successful implementation of fabric designs.
  • Monitor and optimize knitting and dyeing processes to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot any issues or challenges that arise in these sections and provide technical support to resolve them.
• Limitation Identification and Solution Implementation:
  • Identify potential limitations or challenges in fabric designs or processes early on during the development phase.
  • Work proactively to resolve these limitations by suggesting design modifications, process adjustments, or material alternatives.
  • Liaise with production teams to ensure that any identified issues are addressed without compromising timelines or quality.
• Collaboration & Communication:
  • Collaborate closely with the  Merchandiser, production, quality control, and commercial teams to ensure fabric development meets customer expectations and standards.
  • Communicate any technical limitations or challenges effectively with cross-functional teams and propose viable solutions.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, updates, and recommendations to senior management.
• Quality Control & Improvement:
  • Ensure all new fabric developments meet internal and external quality standards.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve fabric quality, performance, and functionality by staying up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and testing methodologies.
• Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed records of fabric developments, including material specifications, testing results, and changes made during the development process.
  • Prepare and submit reports on project status, timelines, and any obstacles encountered in the development process.
