About ASD:
Action for Social Development (ASD), established in 1988, is a non-government, non-profit and non-political development organization. ASD started its development activities with a Vision that people irrespective of their culture, ethnicity and religion enjoy full democratic and human rights and live in peace and dignity. The Mission of ASD is to facilitate the poor creating solidarity among themselves, building their capacity and bargaining power for realizing their rights and needs in order to improve their quality of life. ASD has a unique experience of working in both urban and rural areas and has experience of working as the head of consortium. ASD in a span of over 35 years, successfully implemented 75 development projects. In the previous journey ASD had a footprint in 17 districts of Bangladesh.
Livelihood, agriculture and food security is one of the major focus areas of ASD. ASD has given importance on empowerment and capacity building to the vulnerable community, agricultural technology and alternative IGAs, diversify food production, ensure better utilization of food.
From the beginning of its journey ASD has been working to eliminate existing barriers in order to increase access, enable decision-making and participation of marginalized populations. ASD has demonstrated committed dedication to improving the quality of life for marginalized populations, such as women and youth, through meticulously planned interventions and strategic partnerships. By leveraging both local and national strategies, ASD ensures that its programs are effective, scalable, and sustainable, thereby fostering resilience and self-sufficiency in the communities it serves.
Project Background:
ASD is going to implement a project named USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project (Agriculture and Food Security) at Sunamgonj District from November 2024 to November 2026 funded by USAID. This project will be implemented in 03 (Three) Upazila (Sunamgonj Sadar, Derai and Dowarabazar) under the Sunamgonj District in partnership with USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project-BRAC. To implement the project, ASD invites applications from the competent and qualified persons for the following positions:
Position: Field Supervisor (Upazila Base)
Project Title: USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project (Agriculture and Food Security)
Project Duration: November 2024 to November 2026

Reporting: Report to the Project Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support to the project Manager Program operation and admin &logistic Support
- Support to Field Facilitator for selection of smallholders /PG on the basis of their interest, need by types of agro-products, gender and ethnicity.
- Support the Field Facilitator for selection of Resources Farmer/ RF at village level
- Assistance for demand creation sessions for the respective smallholders /PG and resource farmers (RF).
- Support Technical Officer (Private Sector Engagement) mapping of authentic and quality input and output service providers.
- Selection seed / plant production farmer for build up a seed production centre
- Establish One-stop service centers for services and quality inputs for community.
- Monitor & Supervise sessions for Village Saving and loan VSAL members on financial literacy and access to bank and MFIs
- Supervise sessions with PG members on community-led innovative approaches in response to Flood Tolerant seed, organic fertilizer and pesticide
- Support Technical Officer (Agriculture Food & Security) and Assistance to Field Facilitator establish Climate Field Schools (CFS) as learning center for Climate Smart agricultural technical services on more production
- Supervise Climate smart agriculture technologies in crops base Session by CFS
- Supervise monitor Demonstration Agro-based climate resilient plots using adaptive technologies
- Supervise awareness sessions on safe food and nutrition at Primary and secondary School level
- Establish product collection centers (PCC) with advances farmers in each unions and women business center (WBC) with ethnic women following cooperative business method.
- Assistant to Technical Officer (Private Sector Engagement) Conduct training on functions of product collection center (PCC), Women business center (WBC) and Farmer producer organizations (FPO)
- Formation union level product collection centers with advance farmers and conduct quarterly meeting
- Formation women business center (WBC) at union level with ethnic women & conduct quarterly meeting
- Formation Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) with resource farmers and meeting quarterly
- Identification of Local/Union/Upazila/District/Divisional level potential input-output actors/ organizations and arrange meeting
- To support Technical Officer (Private Sector Engagement) market and value chain analysis to select expected input-output actors/organizations for partnership
- Identify potential input and output actors and invite them to participate in market linkage workshop at the union level
- Invite interested input and output actors to collaborate in response to sell their quality agro-inputs to smallholders/PG as well as purchase safe/organic food items
- Conduct network building Workshop with CBOs, other local organization, Local Services Providers to identify more community-led approaches
- Organizational develop training to build the Capacity at local CBO, C2, FPO, local Union, Upazila base NGO.
- Supervise sessions by Field Facilitator
- Perform monitoring and guidance to the project staff to maintain financial procedures for their expenses.
- Provide support in capacity development to project staff on financial issues.
- Support to Field Staff as ensuring field movement, vehicles, assets, and logistics as per standards and guidelines.
- Assist in the procurement of goods and services, including the preparation of the PR and subsequent follow-up for procurement.
- Provide support in ensuring and arranging adequate stationery, materials, and supplies for training, project activities, and other events on time.
- Maintain effective communication with project staff.
