The Hunger Project Bangladesh:

  • The Hunger Project-Bangladesh (THP-BD) is the largest volunteer-based development organization in the country, with over 200,000 volunteers, implementing strategies of gender-focused community-led development across the country since 1991 to create hunger and poverty free self-reliant Bangladesh. The Hunger Project empowers millions of women and men, youth leaders, local elected representatives, CSO to end their own hunger using their own resources. Project Background

  • Multi-stakeholder Initiative on Peace and Stability (MIPS), is a five-year long Programme of THP. The Programme is funded by FCDO. The Programme will primarily contribute to defuse political, communal and ethnic violence. The Programme activities also relate to engage local peace volunteers and peace groups in violence prevention and conflict resolution, as well as ensure the participation of women and youth and their representation in governance structures at local level, including in CHT. The Programme will also contribute to improve political and civic space with a more collaborative and tolerant politics at local level.

Summary Role of the Position:

  • The Gender and Youth Empowerment Expert will lead the inclusion of women and youth in the Programme implementation process. This position will provide strategic guidance and work on to contribute to the women and youth empowerment within the scope of MIPS Programme. S/he will also identify new opportunity and possibilities for the women and youth empowerment by introducing innovative interventions within the scope of project goal and objectives. S/he will also design various guidelines and communication materials related to women and youth empowerment within the project scope. S/he will also require to collect necessary information about the stakeholders’ recommendations to the Programme and the contextual changes at the ground to support the Programme Director to make the Programme to be adaptive with appropriate activities and implementation strategies in regard to women and youth empowerment.
  • S/he will facilitate to the interfaith peace platform (IFPP) including formation of IFPP at national level and local level, arranging coordination meeting and assisting the platform to implement its plan of action.
