Responsibilities & Context

The GM/HOD of the Sweater Factory is responsible for overseeing the entire operations of the sweater production unit. This includes planning, organizing, managing, and continuously improving production to meet company goals in quality, cost, delivery, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management:

• Lead and manage the entire sweater production process.
• Ensure on-time production as per the shipment schedule.
• Set and achieve production targets.
• Analyse and improve production efficiency (WIP, manpower, machine utilisation).

People Management:

• Supervise department managers and line-level staff.
• Plan and ensure skill development and training for workers and supervisors.
• Maintain discipline, motivation, and high morale within the team.

Planning & Coordination:

• Coordinate with planning, merchandising, IE, QA, maintenance, and HR departments.
• Monitor and adjust production planning based on order priority and delays.

Quality Assurance:

• Ensure compliance with buyers’ quality standards.
• Work closely with the QA team to implement quality improvement initiatives.

Technical Expertise:

• Oversee machine and knitting line layout, gauge & yarn selection, and production troubleshooting.
• Guide technicians for sample development and production start-ups.

Cost & Efficiency:

• Optimise resource use to reduce wastage.
• Control production costs and enhance profitability.

Reporting:

• Prepare and present production reports to top management.
• Analyse production KPIs and take corrective actions as needed.
