Responsibilities & Context

Job Summary:

The General Manager (GM) – Operations is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and execution of all operational processes within the company. This role focuses on optimizing production, ensuring quality standards, managing supply chains, and improving overall efficiency. The GM will lead cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to the company’s growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Oversee the entire furniture manufacturing process, from sourcing raw materials to final product delivery.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources, including workforce, machinery, and materials, to optimize productivity.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor and manage daily operations, addressing any issues that may impact production timelines or quality.
  • Lead the production team to achieve targets, maintain quality standards, and reduce waste.
  • Ensure all products meet the company’s quality standards and comply with industry regulations.
  • Implement quality control measures and monitor performance to minimize defects and rework.
  • Coordinate with the R&D and design teams for new product development and prototype testing.
  • Oversee supply chain operations, including procurement, inventory management, and logistics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.
  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid overstocking or stockouts, optimizing warehouse space and reducing carrying costs.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of managers and supervisors to achieve operational excellence.
  • Establish performance metrics, conduct performance reviews, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and continuous learning.
  • Develop and manage the operations budget, focusing on cost control and efficiency improvements.
  • Analyze operational expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement financial controls.
  • Prepare regular reports on operational performance, including productivity, costs, and profit margins.
  • Contribute to the development of the company’s strategic plans, focusing on operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to enhance operational performance.
  • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce the company’s environmental footprint.
