Education

Diploma in Textile Engineering, Laboratory Technology, Materials/Polymer Technology, Chemical Technology or another relevant technical/scientific discipline may be considered for candidates with strong practical laboratory experience.
A Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Physics or a related discipline will be considered an advantage, but is not mandatory.
Practical microscopy/analytical laboratory skills, scientific understanding and ability to prepare samples and operate instruments accurately will be given strong consideration alongside formal academic qualifications.

Experience

2 to 5 years
The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Garments

Additional Requirements

Preferably 2–5 years of hands-on experience in a textile, materials, polymer, chemical, microscopy, testing or analytical laboratory.
Hands-on experience operating an SEM is strongly preferred. Experience with high-resolution optical microscopy and microscopy sample preparation will be a significant advantage.
Candidates with strong practical experience in optical microscopy or other analytical instruments may also be considered if they demonstrate the technical ability and willingness to learn SEM operation.
Experience with SEM sample preparation, including mounting, cross-section preparation and sputter coating, is preferred but may be developed through training for otherwise strong candidates.
Experience analysing textile fibres, yarns, fabrics, coatings, polymers or related industrial materials will be an advantage.
The candidate must be comfortable performing laboratory work personally rather than supervising operators or managing a laboratory team.
Candidates should have a sound scientific and analytical background with basic knowledge of textile/material structure and microscopy principles.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Basic to good understanding of textile fibres, polymers/materials and material structure sufficient to understand the purpose of microscopic characterization.
Basic understanding of microscopy principles and the relationship between sample preparation, instrument settings and image quality.
Good practical ability, steady and careful handling of small samples, attention to detail and a methodical approach to laboratory work.
Ability to recognize imaging artefacts, abnormal observations or questionable results and perform basic troubleshooting before escalating complex problems.
Ability to make basic measurements from microscopy images and organize images/data in a technically clear manner.
Willingness and ability to learn new analytical instruments, software, sample-preparation techniques and characterization methods.
Spoken and written English must be at a good working level for effective communication and for understanding technical manuals, scientific/technical literature, specifications, standards and instrument instructions. The candidate must be able to prepare clear, accurate and well-structured technical reports in English describing sample preparation, analytical methods, observations, results and conclusions.
Good computer skills for image handling, data processing, preparation of figures/tables and technical reporting using standard office software. Experience with SEM or microscopy image-analysis software is an advantage.
Fluency in Bengali (spoken and written) is required.
Curiosity, accuracy, responsibility and a hands-on approach to experimental work.
Ability to work effectively with R&D project staff, testing laboratory personnel and other technical teams.

Responsibilities & Context

Youngone Corporation is seeking a hands-on R&D Microscopy & SEM Laboratory Technician to perform microscopic and instrumental characterization of textile fibres, yarns, fabrics, coatings, finishes, and related materials.

This non-managerial role involves sample preparation, operation of SEM and high-resolution optical microscopes, image acquisition and analysis, recordkeeping, and technical reporting. Candidates should have a sound scientific and analytical background with basic knowledge of textile/material structure and microscopy principles.

Job Responsibilities:

Prepare textile, fibre, yarn, fabric, coating and polymer samples for SEM and optical microscopy according to SOPs and technical instructions.

Carry out practical sample-preparation procedures such as cutting, mounting, cross-section preparation, sputter coating and other preparation methods appropriate to the material and analysis objective.

Operate SEM and high-resolution optical microscopy equipment to obtain clear, repeatable and technically useful images for R&D projects.

Perform routine instrument setup, daily checks, calibration/verification and basic care according to laboratory procedures and manufacturer instructions.

Adjust practical imaging parameters such as magnification, focus, working distance, contrast and other relevant settings to obtain suitable images.

Recognize poor sample preparation, imaging artefacts or questionable results and repeat or modify preparation/measurement when necessary.

Perform basic measurements and image analysis such as fibre diameter, coating thickness, cross-sectional dimensions, surface features and other morphology-related parameters when required.

Support R&D projects by comparing samples before and after prototyping, dyeing, finishing, coating, mechanical treatment or other development processes.

Organize and process microscopy images and analytical data and prepare figures, tables and image annotations in a clear and consistent format.

Prepare clear technical reports in English describing samples, preparation methods, measurement conditions, observations, images, results and basic conclusions.

Maintain accurate raw data, sample identification, instrument logbooks, image files, analysis records and sample traceability according to laboratory SOPs.

Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance of assigned instruments and coordinate more complex servicing or calibration with responsible personnel and equipment suppliers.

Follow laboratory safety procedures for SEM high-voltage/vacuum systems, sputter coating, sample-preparation chemicals and other laboratory activities.

Learn and progressively develop working competence with other analytical instruments available in the laboratory when required.

Support laboratory quality procedures and documentation, including ISO/IEC 17025-related activities where applicable.
