Strong knowledge of the Theory of Change, result frameworks, food security concepts, environmental hazards in agriculture, and USAID programming and policies, including M&E indicators and environmental guidelines.

Excellent communication skills in both Bangla and English, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to develop and conduct training and workshops.

Experience in program budget preparation, expenditure analysis, progress reporting, and staff supervision in livelihoods and food security projects.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate on diverse teams, manage agricultural activities, and oversee project management with minimal supervision.

Job Purpose
-
Bangladesh America Maitree Project, awarded in October 2023 and expected to run for 5 years. The goal of the Maitree Project is to advance broad-based, inclusive, and more sustainable development through strong local partnerships that complement USAID/Bangladesh’s CDCS and development objectives. Under the Maitree Project,BRAC will establish a grant-making mechanism to provide funding to qualifying local recipients through a local, competitive process; increase the organizational capacity of recipient organizations to compete for grants and implement development interventions; and; build the capacity of local organizations to collaborate, build networks, and develop local solutions to development problems.

The Lead – Agriculture and Food Security drives strategic initiatives, ensures quality processes, and oversees partner activities within the thematic area. Responsibilities include reviewing strategies, supporting capacity-building efforts, and contributing to planning tools like the Theory of Change, Logical Framework, and Annual Work Plan. The Lead reviews EOIs and grant proposals, ensuring integration with other areas for maximum impact, while providing strategic guidance on focus areas and adapting to emerging priorities. Additionally, the role involves building connections with networks, government bodies, and research institutions, representing the program at forums, and advocating for gender sensitivity and diversity in all program aspects.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development for the Thematic Area
-
Develop the Theory of Change (ToC), performance indicators, and integration strategies in collaboration with the MEL team, ensuring alignment with project goals.

Review research, field data, and study reports to generate knowledge for the project, and work with MEL to establish metrics for tracking progress.

Promote locally led solutions and integrate Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in thematic activities.
Supporting Grants Activities:
-
Participate in reviewing Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and grant proposals to support partner selection and ensure alignment with program goals.
-
Collaborate with partners to enhance implementation plans, address technical gaps, and develop monitoring plans with the MEL team to track progress and quality of activities.
-
Prepare and review budget guidelines for Maitree and partners, recommend actions, and suggest course corrections to address gaps in partner implementation.
Partner Capacity Building in collaboration with IR2 team

Develop training modules, guidelines, and tools to ensure high-quality program implementation, and conduct technical trainings for partners and project staff as needed.

Provide ongoing support through joint field visits, attend partner meetings to share insights, and offer targeted assistance based on partner needs.

Propose and participate in capacity-strengthening efforts, including partner capacity assessments and technical development actions.
Building Networks and Representing the Project
-
Develop and maintain internal and external networks for peer support, technical expertise, and scale-up opportunities, while supporting partners in establishing similar networks for sustainability.

Represent Maitree at national workshops, seminars, and meetings to foster alliances, gather innovative ideas, and advocate for the project at different levels, including the SAB and GRB.

Engage with government departments, research organizations, and companies to secure support and services for program participants.
Supporting Program Learning, Reporting, and Ad-Hoc Activities

Prepare bi-weekly, monthly, and qualitative reports, including inputs for Quarterly Progress Reports (QPR), Annual Reports (ARR), success stories, and case studies for donors.

Participate in annual work planning sessions, support the development of work plans, and attend technical meetings, events, and workshops.

Respond to occasional ad-hoc information requests as needed.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
