Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), a regional, intergovernmental organization is looking for a senior professional with leadership capacity as well as strategic vision to take up its activities in the areas of rural development and poverty alleviation in Asia-Pacific region. Accordingly, applications for the position of Programme Officer (Research) are invited for its Headquarters located in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Background
CIRDAP was established with the auspices of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations on 6thJuly, 1979. It has 15 members countries namely, Afghanistan, Bangladesh (Host State), Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. The purpose of CIRDAP is to provide technical support and promote innovative best practices on sustainable IRD amongst member countries in Asia-Pacific in order to improve the lives of the rural people.
Position Purpose
Programme Officer (Research) supports the Director in conducting research on CIRDAP Focus areas under the Sustainable Development Goals and identifies areas for further research, pilot projects and training. He/she will analyze and assess relevant political, social and economic trends and provides substantive inputs to project formulation and evaluation, joint programming initiatives and IRD frameworks. He/she will ensure and guide the appropriate application of systems and procedures and develop enhancements if necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direct supervision of the Director Research, the incumbent is expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Assists in establishing guidelines for research collaboration;
- Assists in devising effecting monitoring and evaluation systems for research programme/projects undertaken by CIRDAP itself or in cooperation with national IRD centres or other institutions;
- Assists in identifying research needs of the member countries in respect of Rural Development;
- Assists in planning the research programme/projects;
- Assists in preparing programme/project proposals;
- Assists in coordinating, monitoring, evaluating and following –up of projects;
- Take up Consultancy projects, Resource mobilization;
- Carryout mandated research and training programmes;
- Edit CIRDAP journal, expand publication and outreach activities;
- To organize international conferences, trainings etc. and
- Performs other duties as may be required and assigned by the Director Research/Director General.
Compensation & Other Benefits
The Programme Officer (PO) – Research will receive a highly competitive monthly salary package of $2,444. This includes a basic salary of $1,777, a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) of $89, a Provident Fund contribution of $178, and a housing allowance of $400. In accordance with the agreement between CIRDAP and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, CIRDAP staff members are entitled to certain privileges and immunities, including exemption from taxation on salaries and emoluments paid by the Centre.
