    Responsibilities & Context

    Job Context:

    The overall responsibility of the Project Coordinator will be to ensure overall program related functions of the project. Working under the project of “Protect the marine biodiversity in Bangladesh through sustainable fishing and fish processing, improved fishery value chain, and empowering women and youth in marine conservation in five selected fish landing sites, s/he will be responsible for all program activities and General Support Service for smooth implementation of the project.

    Employment Status: Full-time, Contractual (09 months)

    Job Location: Project Office, Barishal

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Develop annual work plans related to the different project outputs and outcomes in collaboration with project team members.
    • Provide effective leadership, coordination and facilitation of technical inputs, management support and technical oversight for the project.
    • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the project direct supervision of Chief Executive (BEDS) and close coordination with focal person from GIZ .  Supervise and provide technical insights to, the team for the implementation of work plans under the project.
    • Establish contact and maintain lasting rapport with the Department of Fisheries, Fishers’ Association, Fishing groups, Educational Institutes and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Prepare project budgets and conduct budget revision based on project work plans as required. Prepare FD-6, 7 and other documents as necessary for approval and smooth functioning of the projects
    • Review monthly expenditures by conducting budget analytics and building alternate scenarios; review all transactions for accuracy, identify issues and apply corrective action
    • Conduct Monitoring and Evaluation systems with the support of project team and ensure donor reporting is submitted timely.
    • Conduct and facilitate collection of project data from the field team members.
    • Make regular visits to the sites where the project is operating to provide backup support for the project staff members.
    • Ensure the operational and technical supervision of the project as per the organizational guidelines.
    • Support the projects’ HR activities including recruitment, staff on-boarding, and annual performance evaluations
    • Oversee project staff as required and conduct an annual performance review of staff assigned under your supervision
    • Lead the compilation of monthly, quarterly, half yearly and yearly as well as final completion reports.
    • Establish liaison with the local government administration for smooth functioning of the project.
    • Lead, organize and participate in meetings with government counterparts at local level, as required for successful operation and implementation of the project.
    • Overall management of the project cycle.
    • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
    • Practice, promote the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
    • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
    • Conduct other relevant project tasks as required by the higher management.
