Responsibilities & Context

Overview:

  • The MNCH Project Coordinator will oversee and manage the implementation of maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH) programs in the slum areas of Dhaka City. The role involves coordinating with community health workers, local organizations, and government bodies to improve health outcomes for mothers and children in these underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Develop, implement, and monitor MNCH programs tailored to the needs of slum communities. Ensure project goals and objectives align with organizational mission and donor requirements. Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring effective use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with local community leaders, healthcare providers, and NGOs to foster community support and involvement. Organize and conduct community awareness campaigns on maternal, neonatal, and child health issues. Address community concerns and feedback, adapting program activities as necessary.
  • Health Services Coordination: Coordinate with healthcare facilities and mobile clinics to provide essential MNCH services, including prenatal care, deliveries, postnatal care, and immunizations. Facilitate training and capacity-building sessions for local health workers and volunteers. Monitor the quality of health services and address any gaps or challenges.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report data on program activities, health outcomes, and community needs. Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Program Manager and other stakeholders. Ensure data accuracy and confidentiality in line with organizational policies.
  • Advocacy and Policy: Advocate for improved MNCH services and policies at the local and municipal levels. Engage with government officials and policymakers to support and sustain MNCH initiatives.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and implement contingency plans for health emergencies, including disease outbreaks and natural disasters. Coordinate with emergency response teams and organizations to ensure effective support for affected populations.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Social Science, Anthropology, Development Studies, Social Work, or a related field; MBBS and Master’s degree will get high priority.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in health program coordination, preferably in maternal and child health along with slum area working experience.
  • Proven experience working in low-income or underserved communities.
  • Strong understanding of MNCH issues and strategies, especially in a slum context.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and navigate complex community dynamics.
  • Proficient in data analysis and report writing.
  • Fluent in Bengali and proficient in English.
  • Skills:
  • Strong report writing skills in English.
  • Bangla typing skill is most needed.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of local health systems and cultural sensitivities.
  • Working Conditions:
  • This position involves fieldwork in slum areas of Dhaka City (Mirpur Area), which may require traveling in challenging conditions.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate community needs and emergencies.
