Responsibilities & Context

1. Financial Record Keeping

Maintain Accurate Records: Record daily financial transactions such as sales, purchases, receipts, and payments in accounting systems or ledgers.

Reconcile Accounts: Ensure that bank statements, inventory records, and other financial data are accurate and consistent with internal records.

Manage Ledger Accounts: Maintain and update general ledger accounts, including accounts receivable and payable, fixed assets, and payroll.

2. Financial Reporting

Prepare Financial Statements: Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Generate Management Reports: Provide financial summaries and analysis for management to aid in decision-making.

Tax Reporting: Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with local regulations, including VAT, income tax, and other relevant taxes.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting

Develop Budgets: Work with management to create and monitor budgets, forecasting future financial performance and setting financial goals.

Variance Analysis: Analyze budget variances, identify discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.

4. Compliance and Audit

Ensure Compliance: Ensure adherence to local accounting standards (BAS) and regulatory requirements, including the Companies Act and tax regulations.

Internal Audits: Conduct internal audits to evaluate financial operations, detect inaccuracies, and improve internal controls.

Support External Audits: Prepare documents and records for external audits and assist auditors as needed.

5. Cash Flow Management

Monitor Cash Flow: Track and manage cash flow to ensure the company has adequate liquidity for operations.

Credit Control: Oversee the credit control process, including managing receivables and payables, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts.

6. Payroll Management

Process Payroll: Calculate and process employee salaries, bonuses, deductions, and benefits.

Comply with Labor Laws: Ensure compliance with labor laws regarding salary disbursement, tax deductions, and employee benefits.

7. Financial Analysis

Analyze Financial Data: Perform financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and provide insights to improve financial performance.

Cost Control: Monitor and analyze costs, and recommend cost-saving measures.
