Requirements
Education
-
B.Sc in engineering preferably mechanical engineering (ME)/ industrial and production engineering (IPE) / EEE/ Civil & any other related subject. International OHS lead auditor course, NEBOSH, OSHA, NFPA, OHSAS 18001, food safety, firefighting installations & rescue operations, emergency response, first aid or any safety professional course will get the preferences.
Experience
- At least 6 years
Additional Requirements

Good safety engineering knowledge along with occupational health, exposure to the job risks, national & international OHS standards, OSHA, NEBOSH, and ISO 14001, BNBC etc. Clear knowledge about handling safety issues at organization level. Should have knowledge about national safety related laws, codes and policies

Leadership, technological, analytical, communication, people management, reporting, team management, authority delegation and knowledge about regulatory organizations. Training and mentoring skills. Conducting safety assessment, safety plan and implementation of plan.

Minimum 6 years experiences in senior managerial role, seasoned professional in health safety, factory/massive engineering work with hands on operational experiences about safety management system in a big/reputed organization.

Job Purpose
-
Lead to develop & establish the occupational health & safety management system across the BRAC, Social Enterprises, & BRAC International countries for ensuing minimum loss/accident, complying with regulatory requirements for reducing OHS hazards establishing control measures accordingly. Pursue with senior managements to establish health safety culture across the BRAC entities through the people engagements and frugal innovations aligning with the BRAC’s strategy.
Key Responsibilities

Lead BRAC wide safety team on occupational health safety related issues, prioritize, take preventive measures for avoiding accidents, develop safe procedures, engage team to conduct safety awareness training, practices and drills across BRAC.

Explore the new initiatives & innovative preventive solutions based on the site & job wise risks assessment of factories, major establishments, BRAC major entities and develop control measures.

Lead, monitor & engage diverse team (managers/deputy managers, engineer, officer, technicians, etc.) for ensuring BRAC wide safety and best resource utilization effectively. Keep supervisor, senior managers informed about important safety issues.

Ensure building, structural safety and by design safety of the facilities/machines as required, regulatory licenses availability/renewal in line with BNBC, RAJUK, FSCD, CDA, KDA, RDA, Pourasava, UP and other relevant regulations.

Develop checklists and team engagements in quality inspections, safety auditing of building, establishment, machine and operations.

Study national and international best practices, engage team’s strength to find out the best intellectual but frugal technical solutions required for occupational health safety BRAC wide.

Prepare monthly report of the major incident and share the learnings with relevant stakeholders. Assist in the safety strategic plan development, annual reviews and upgrading of existing safety programs for BRAC wide services.

Develop and implement effective safety training system along with an effective safety communication system to create a safety culture across the organization.

Explore scope to engage BRAC wide initiatives, collaborations, partnership to expedite and add values to the organizational level aligning with BRAC strategies.

Any other relevant tasks as assigned by the management.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the safety of programme participants, people who come into contact with the organization and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourages others to do so.
