Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

AKH Knitting & Dyeing Ltd. (AKDL) is a 100% Export Oriented Knit Composite Factory located at Phulbaria, Tetuljhora, Savar, Dhaka and a sister concern of AKH Group. We are looking an experienced Welfare Officer for the Factory.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To maintain co-operative relationship between the factory authorities and the workers and to arrange discussions between the two parties if necessary.
  • The welfare officer counsels and motivates workers regarding office discipline and absenteeism.
  • Assisting workers in granting paid leave and informing workers about any leave and other rules and regulations.
  • To pay attention to various facilities for the welfare of the workers such as: canteen, rest room, children’s center, provision of adequate toilets and washrooms, drinking water etc.·
  • To strive to improve the quality of work and living conditions of the workers and to make recommendations to the appropriate authorities regarding their welfare.
  • If there are any individual or collective grievances of the workers, they should be brought to the attention of the authorities for their prompt disposal.
  • If there is a difference of opinion between the employer and the labor side, taking the initiative for compromise.
  • To understand workers’ expressions and to assist employers and workers in resolving mutual differences.
  • To encourage the formation of various workers’ committees and joint production committees, co-operative societies and welfare committees and supervise their activities.
  • Providing necessary assistance and advice to the management authorities and workers in implementing the provisions of the law in the organization.
  • Awareness of the workers about various forms of harassment, abuse, discrimination and human rights issues, provide appropriate counseling and training on these issues and take effective measures to prevent harassment and abuse at the workplace.
  • Creating awareness among workers about health and safety at work and safe motherhood.
  • Ensuring proper implementation of health check-ups, maternity welfare facilities etc. for pregnant women workers.
  • Building a positive relationship between workers and management is a key responsibility.
  • Advise workers on using personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Oversee amenities like dining facilities, canteens, adequate toilets, childcare areas and drinking water and maintain registers to track these facilities.
