Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education/Development Studies/Social Sciences, or a related discipline from a recognized university.

Experience

    • At least 2 years

Additional Requirements

  • Age At most 35 years

Years of experience:

Minimum 2 years of experience in education programming and facilitating teacher training in humanitarian or refugee contexts.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Experience in supporting education activities and classroom facilitation in humanitarian settings.
  • Must be fluent in English speaking and reading, with strong writing skills.
  • Must be willing to undergo intensive training in Bard’s pedagogy for the programme.
  • Must be an active and critical thinker; someone who problem solves and presents solutions to the Education Officer.
  • Ability to support and manage Learning Centre Facilitators in day-to-day education activities.
  • Basic skills in report writing and coordination with facilitators, Learning Centres, and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with digital learning tools is an advantage.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email).
  • Willingness to work in Ukhiya and Teknaf field settings.

Responsibilities & Context

Community Development Centre (CODEC) invites applications for the position of Education Assistant for Ukhiya and Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.

Position Title: Education Assistant

Duration: 01 July 2026 – 31 December 2026

Programme Overview

This position is to help lead the implementation of a youth education programme developed and run by Bard College (New York). The Programme focuses on building transferrable skills in critical thinking, analysis, English language, communication and presentation, in preparation for higher education and/or livelihoods. The Education Assistant will be expected to report to an on-site Education Officer and to collaborate with the Bard College Programme Director, learning the pedagogy and how to best support volunteer facilitators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support education officers and facilitators in implementing learning activities at field level.
  • Assist in classroom management, learner engagement, and distribution of learning materials.
  • Support session facilitation and basic pedagogy activities at Learning Centres.
  • Collect and maintain learner attendance, assessment, and activity data.
  • Assist in preparing weekly and monthly reports and documentation.
  • Support field-level coordination with teachers, learners, and community stakeholders.
  • Ensure safeguarding principles are followed in all activities.
  • Assist in organizing learning events, orientations, and education activities.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain daily attendance and activity records of the learning centres.
  • Support data collection for monitoring and reporting.
  • Assist in preparing simple activity reports and field notes.

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with Camp-in-Charge (CiC) offices, UNHCR, education sector partners, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Participate in relevant coordination meetings, workshops, and education sector events as required.
  • Support coordination with community members and stakeholders as required.

Safeguarding & PSEA

  • Abide by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) six core principles on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and CODEC safeguarding policies.
  • Ensure safe and respectful engagement with learners and community members.

Workplace

  • Fully learning centre–based in the camps with occasional work at the office as required.
