Requirements

Education

  • Master’s degree in Education/Development Studies/Social Sciences, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree may be considered if they possess substantial relevant experience in humanitarian education and demonstrate strong competencies in education programme implementation and training.

Additional Requirements

  • Age At most 40 years

Years of experience:

Minimum 4 years of experience in education programming and/or facilitating teacher training in humanitarian or refugee contexts.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Candidate required to have experience in education programming and facilitating pedagogy training in humanitarian contexts.
  • Must be fluent in English speaking and reading, with strong writing skills.
  • Must be willing to undergo intensive training in Bard’s pedagogy for the programme.
  • Must be an active and critical thinker; someone who problem solves and presents solutions to the leadership.
  • Must be willing to upskill for the delivery of pedagogical training and mentoring for refugee volunteers.
  • Skilled in preparing quality reports and maintaining effective coordination with project stakeholders and relevant authorities.
  • Familiarity with digital learning tools and online education platforms will be considered an advantage.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email).
  • Flexible to move both the Ukhiya and Teknaf areas.

Responsibilities & Context

Community Development Centre (CODEC) invites applications for the position of Education Officer for Ukhiya and Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.

Position Title: Education Officer

Duration: 01 July 2026 to 31 December 2026

Programme Overview

This position is to help lead the implementation of a youth education programme developed and run by Bard College (New York). The Programme focuses on building transferrable skills in critical thinking, analysis, English language, communication and presentation, in preparation for higher education and/or livelihoods. The Education Officer will be expected to collaborate closely with the Bard College Programme Director, learning the pedagogy and how to take a more significant pedagogical role in the programme delivery.

Key Areas of Performance / Responsibility / Accountability

  • Support the Project Coordinator in planning, implementing, and monitoring all educational activities under the LIT Project to ensure quality delivery in line with project objectives and donor requirements.
  • Provide technical support, supervision, and mentoring to Education Assistants and Learning Centre Facilitators to strengthen the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Facilitate teacher training and capacity-building sessions on learner-centered pedagogy, active learning methodologies, classroom management, and assessment practices.
  • Support the adaptation, translation, and contextualization of learning materials, training modules, manuals, newsletters, case studies, and other educational resources.
  • Conduct regular field visits to Learning Centres and maintain close communication with teachers, learners, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of activities.
  • Monitor classroom practices and provide feedback to teachers and facilitators to improve learning outcomes and student engagement.
  • Support learner enrolment, attendance tracking, retention, and referral processes, ensuring inclusive participation of girls and vulnerable learners.
  • Assist in organizing orientation sessions, workshops, learning events, and educational campaigns in line with project objectives.
  • Coordinate the distribution and proper utilization of teaching-learning materials, stationery, and other educational supplies.
  • Prepare work plans and support the timely implementation of project activities according to approved schedules.
  • Practice, promote, and uphold safeguarding standards and ensure compliance with CODEC, UNHCR, and Bard College policies in all activities.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator and management.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Ensure proper documentation of training sessions, meetings, classroom observations, and educational activities.
  • Collect, verify, and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly data related to learner attendance, teacher performance, and project indicators.
  • Compile weekly and monthly activity reports and submit them to the Project Coordinator.
  • Prepare training reports, meeting minutes, case studies, success stories, and other documentation as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and support project monitoring, evaluation, and reporting requirements.

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with Camp-in-Charge (CiC) offices, UNHCR, education sector partners, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Participate in relevant coordination meetings, workshops, and education sector events as required.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with government authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations.
  • Collaborate closely with Programme, MEAL, HR, Finance, Logistics, and Procurement teams to facilitate timely implementation of project activities.

Safeguarding & PSEA

  • Abide by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) six core principles on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of learners, colleagues, and community members by preventing any form of abuse, neglect, harassment, exploitation, or discrimination.
  • Promote safeguarding standards and contribute to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Serve as a resource person on safeguarding issues and support the effective implementation of CODEC’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
