Requirements

Education

  • CA, CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or equivalent professional certification.

Experience

    • At least 5 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Manufacturing (FMCG), IT Enabled Service, Real Estate

Additional Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive public accounting experience strictly focused on U.S. taxation.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced, deep knowledge of U.S. Federal tax laws and specific tax codes across all U.S. states (multi-state taxation).
  • Proven experience reviewing Form 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S, 990 along with complex state schedules.
  • High proficiency in major U.S. tax software (e.g., Drake Tax, ATX,) and accounting platforms like QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Strong expertise in calculating depreciation, basis tracking, distributions, and book-to-tax reconciliations.

Behavioral Skills

  • Exceptional, sharp attention to detail with an analytical mindset to catch errors instantly. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for drafting professional review notes and handling client inquiries. Strong leadership traits with the ability to mentor, train, and guide junior staff. Ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines during peak tax seasons.

Responsibilities & Context

To support a reputed U.S.-based CPA firm by performing detailed reviews of complex U.S. federal and multi-state tax returns. The role ensures the highest level of accuracy, compliance with state-specific and federal tax laws, minimizing risk, and providing constructive feedback to junior preparers to optimize workflow and client deliverables.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Conduct a meticulous, detailed review of U.S. federal and multi-state income tax returns prepared by staff to ensure mathematical accuracy and tax law compliance.
  • Provide clear review notes, technical guidance, and constructive feedback to junior tax preparers to foster professional development and minimize errors.
  • Coordinate work allocation, monitor deadlines, and assist the team in resolving technical bottlenecks or software diagnostics.
  • Assist with IRS and state tax authority communications, notices, and audit support.

  • Multi-State Tax Compliance: Review complex individual (Form 1040), corporate (Form 1120/1120-S), and partnership (Form 1065) returns across all U.S. states, including multi-state allocations, composite filings, and nexus issues.

Financial & Bookkeeping Verification

  • Review and reconcile underlying workpapers, trial balances, and book-to-tax adjustments (depreciation, basis tracking, etc.) to ensure flawless tax filings.

Tax Planning & Strategy:

  • Identify opportunities for tax savings, overlooked deductions, and state-specific credits to optimize outcomes for small business and individual clients.

Client Service & Remote Work

  • Maintain high standards of quality and deliver exceptional service in a full-time remote capacity, handling complex client questions efficiently.
