Additional Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical or Relevant Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the relevant industry, with particular abilities in general management and sales, design/construction project management.
  • OEM Specific and Industry Certifications Possess extensive knowledge of sales principles and practices, and an ability to coach others on them.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strength in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask. Constant alertness to engineering design risks and opportunities, including proactive intervention where required.
  • The ability to make good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, financial, experience and judgment.
  • The ability to follow up and follow through on delegated instructions and tasks.
  • Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and related software packages, with proficiency in Excel and Project a must (proficiency in Primavera P6 an advantage).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Actively work with General Manager, Bid team and project delivery teams to ensure smart engineering solution and staging concepts are well planned and executed.
  • Participate in value engineering exercises through the development of sales proposal and delivery stages of the project.
  • Ensure input to, and output from, design, finance and logistics team is clear and complete.
  • Establish and monitor pre-sales design programs.
  • Meeting Company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis.
  • Performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
  • Comply with and promote other Company and customer policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Actively participate in the onboarding, probationary review and annual performance review process.
  • Must have sales experience in security surveillance and automation products and solutions or enterprise IT products and services, including CCTV cameras, access control systems, alarm systems, home automation, commercial automation, hospitality automation, IP telephony, video conferencing, video wall solutions, audiovisual solutions, fire safety solutions, structured cabling, building management solutions.
  • Develop sales and distribution policies that reflect the organization’s goals.
  • Drive the overall company sales strategy for new business and account retention, including year-on-year growth.
  • Direct the sales team in generating proposals that define a clear path to client satisfaction and revenue growth.
  • Establish customer relationship management (CRM) systems and guidelines to manage customer relationships.

  • Perform market sizing exercises and pricing analysis of competitor products and commercially position Smart Group and associated OEM products.
  • Participate in local and international forums to keep abreast of new changes in the industry and practices.
  • Provide input to the content development team based on customer and industry feedback.
  • Recommend changes in pricing structures in product lines or products.
  • Review sales performance and train the team accordingly for continuous improvement.
  • Promote positive relationships with major customers to understand their needs.
