Additional Requirements

    Experience:

    • Minimum 03 years of experience in providing social or psychological counseling, preferably in a private university.

    • Experience in crisis intervention, social counseling, and group facilitation is preferred.

    Technical Skill:

    • Strong interpersonal skills and empathy to relate to students from diverse backgrounds.

    • Excellent listening, communication, and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

    • Proficiency in conducting individual and group counseling sessions.

    • Familiarity with psychosocial issues such as stress, adjustment disorders, and social integration challenges.

    Language Skill:

    • Strong written and spoken communication skills in both Bangla and English.

    • Strong ethical standards and commitment to promoting social well-being in the university community.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

    Responsibilities & Context

    Department: Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW)

    Reporting To: Director, DSW

    Major Responsibilities

    Provide Counseling Services:

    • Offer individual and group counseling to students, faculty, and staff on social, personal, and emotional issues.

    • Address issues such as relationship challenges, family dynamics, social adjustment, peer pressure, and other psychosocial concerns.

    Crisis Intervention:

    • Provide immediate support and intervention in cases of social or emotional crises.

    • Collaborate with university departments for emergency response and referrals to external support services if needed.

    Social Adjustment Support:

    • Assist students in adapting to the social environment of the university.

    • Provide guidance on managing social stressors, building interpersonal relationships, and improving communication skills.

    • Educational Workshops and Seminars:

    • Organize workshops on social skills, resilience building, stress management, conflict resolution, and self-esteem.

    • Raise awareness of social issues affecting students, such as bullying, substance abuse, and cultural adjustment.

    • Confidentiality and Ethical Practice:

    • Maintain strict confidentiality in all counseling interactions while complying with ethical standards and legal requirements.

    Develop and Implement Social Programs:

    • Design and execute programs that promote social integration and well-being within the university community.

    • Foster a supportive and inclusive campus environment by promoting peer mentoring and social inclusion activities.

    • Collaboration with University Departments:

    • Work with academic staff, student affairs, and other support services to create a holistic approach to student well-being.

    • Provide guidance to university leadership on policies and programs that affect the social well-being of students.

    Case Management:

    • Monitor progress of individuals receiving counseling and provide ongoing support, follow-up, and referrals when necessary.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and interventions.

    • Provide reports and data to inform university leadership of emerging social trends and issues within the community.

    • Research and Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay updated on best practices in social counseling and participate in professional development.

    • Conduct research on social issues affecting university students to inform programming and support services.

    Referral and Networking:

    • Build and maintain a network of external mental health professionals and social support services for referrals.

    • Guide students in accessing external resources when required.
